I always do my own yard work. I had to go buy a tractor when we bought this house. I report the people that put "Yard work" fliers in my mailbox.(Federal offense)

Around here, just about every restaurants have mexican cooks, except the mexican resaurants!!
Most of these people are not having SS taken out of their "checks", because they get paid cash, under the table, or the wages are falsified lower than they actually are.
Two things we noticed here on Monday:
When you placed your order at the fast food places, you could understand them when they repeated it back to you!
Traffic was almost non-existant!!

My wife who is a teacher in Newark NJ said that the day of the boycott was the best day she's had in school in years.

All the non-English speaking teachers Aids (95%) were out, as well as the Hispanic students, no parents in or around the school for the whole day ! According to her it was wonderful, every student understood the lesson plans for the day. No disruptions, no over crowding etc.

Wasn't the lack of traffic WONDERFUL!?  Like it used to be.  And to think most out and about on the roads probably had car insurance and legal driver's license.  I pay through the nose for coverage for "uninsured motorists".  It keeps going up because there are more and more on the roads. 

Warbird:  For the past several years, any time we get an estimate on having something done to our house, concrete, carpet install, whatever....we have always emphasized Legal American Workers! 

What they do is the owner of the company comes and gives the estimate.  American guys.  Then when their crew shows up to do the job the foreman speaks English and he ends up leaving to check out another job and leaves his Spanish speaking crew behind to do the work.  NOT ACCEPTABLE.  I refuse to help put money in their pockets.  We end up paying more to get legal American workers, but it's worth it to us.

One of the home improvement centers here had the Spanish side of the products facing out on the shelves.  We complained to the manager.  We must not have been the only ones to complain because they now have the English side of products facing out.

They just recently killed an illegal immigrant in Tampa because he didn't stop for a routine traffic stop, because he had no license, and was illegal, no papers so they had to chase him and he totaled 2 Sheriffs' cars, and flipped over a fairly new pickup truck,he was driving, got out of the pickup and went after the Sheriffs with a pocket knife, and was shot and killed...His wife got on the news and tried to say he only had a pocket knife, and it was police brutality, when he was in an aggressive mode, and the Sheriffs reacted responsibly....Maybe the answer is to go after the employers.....and really hit them.....something has to be done!

Becoming a citizen in the United States is a privelage not a right. You only have rights after you become a citizen.

 My ancestors came to the US and became citizens after alot of hard work and sacrifice. They fought in every major conflicted since this country was formed.

 These illegals come here by choice, they dont have to be here. Now they want to automatically become citizens. Thats @#$#%#$$. We do need immigration reform but in the mean time we need to build a long fence and man it, after the first few get shot the flow will stop. We also need mass deportation for all illegals.

Why would they obey laws here... they broke the first one they had a chance to abide by... "becoming legal".

My Son-In-Law is Canadian and he spent untold hours working his way here with interviews on both sides of the border etc.Not to mention the hundreds of dollars, but that's the way it works. Finally after about a year he got his card. He worked for it (you know like paying taxes). Maybe not perfect but it's the "law" people... . So why don't they ask him what he thinks about their plight... oh yeah he didn't demand that I speak French either... To me...It's not just about  Mexicans it's about any illegal....

Why didn't the fed / state / municipal governments suspend free social services for a day to undocumented immigrants??

Remembering that this country is populated by immigrants or decendants of immigrants, cause we all came from somewhere else. ( Including the North American Indians, they didn't just pop up from the earth).  I guess they have squatters right, so to speak, and that would make the first illegal immigrants the Pilgrams and the colony down in Va.

This whole issue is not about immigration, its about the rule of law.

I totally agree, US citizenship must be earned, not given away. Some thing worthwhile is worth working for!.  But, this is preaching to the bishops.
