The other day my wife and I were shooting an email back and fourth, just replying to the same one. Next thing ya know I'm getting a bunch of mails from strangers saying to stop sending or do I know you. How did this mail get sent out to other recipients? Virus? I ran AVG-antivirus and my Adaware. They didn't find anything, however it seems to have stopped. Any ideas? Thanks

What e-mail were/are you using when that happened?

look at the "to:" section at the top of the email, if your wifes email is the only one there then something hidden could have happenned, but if the original email had more then one email in the to section and you reply to that message it will go to all who are there
I am using Yahoo Mail. The mail was sent back and forth about 10 times, so I'm sure she was the the only one in the to section.

There are some "viruses" that will send messages to everyone in you address book without you even knowing it...sort of piggy-backing on ya. If this is happening, then something(or one) has wormed their way into your system, or the e-mail server.
If you're not careful, your server could be pegged as a spammer, and pulled off line.
That happened to one of our tech services....their e-mail server got bugged, and started sending out a ton of spam. They got booted off the 'net, and had to re-organize their LLC with new name, web-site, EVERYTHING!....not a pretty sight...

I know about them worms Joel. The wierd part about this is these people were not in my address book. And I've never heard of them.

Ah...but what about the little lady's e-mail?
Did the e-mails you got tellin you to stop have your ORIGINAL message(s) still attached?
Could be a scam...some turds have access to e-mail traffic, from what I hear, and can snatch your e-mail addys off the net...
If it's not still happening, then I'll bet it was a YaHoo issue...who knows what the heck happened. I get e-mails all the time from folks that tell me all kinds of stories, and send pictures of vacations and such....but I don't have a freakin clue who these people are!. I think the hosts just get their wires a little crossed in heavy net traffic, and stuff goes out to addys that are really close, like one letter/number different from yours, or the intended addy.
If it ain't still happenin, I'd let it go...chalk it up to them dam little pesky electronic ELVES!!!
