---->>The greatest country in history!! That is extremely subjective. If I had to pick a historical nation whose advances in military might and society were the greatest I would say the Roman Empire. And what the Roman Empire and America have in common is their decay into decadence.<<<-- If I remember right, didnt they have something to do with the crucifiction of Jesus? Have fun in Italia.... |saluteflag|

WOW!!! Such strong opinions, and I've read them, and respect them all. My opinion is that, politics is the base line of everything that is a part of this country. In the local government, school systems, and even at the hardware store. Everywhere you look, or every business that you patronize is influenced, and greatly affected by politics.

So where do you start to change it?

I don't know, I came here to talk about vettes.

I hope everybody realized today was the 60th anniversary of Normandy. Please have a small prayer, or at least a kind thought for those involved.
Thanks for listening to my small opinion.

If you noticed, this initial thread was started in the NON-vette discussion area. And one of the primary reasons not to just move away & turn your back on your country IS that all those patriots who gave there lives on Normandy beaches on this day & others who fought to preserve the freedoms you all enjoy today, would be a slap in their face.3 out of 4 members in my family have served in 3 of our Armed Services. My father went in as enlisted in the US Navy, survived WW2 & Pearl Harbor,Korea,3 tours in SE Asia, was about to retire after 30 yrs,and when his plane went down he was a LCDR and Naval Aviator. |saluteflag|

Understood about the non-vette thread, I just don't want to see what normally happens in other sites...people start talking back and forth about a subject they're very passionate about, and then start arguing, and throwing insults back and forth.

I have great respect for the contributors of this site. I believe it's in a class by itself, just because of the caliber of contributors, and like I said, I respect everybody's opinion, but, I guess its a force of habit, because of my job, to try and interject and stop arguments. Everybody has an extremely valid opinion, mostly supported by facts, and I guess everybody can also politely agree to disagree. And I also respect everybody for standing their ground, one of the luxuries of being an American. Take care and God bless.

I also have served in the military. U.S. Army 1990-1996. Served in a war, volunteered my time, and traveled to New York at Ground Zero for two weeks, and am damn proud just to live in this country.

Alan

I agree with you,& I am not going to insult anyone either, because as you probably know, people usually already have their minds made up,& listening to me isnt going to change them,no matter how flawed ones thinking may be.I served in the USMC,the Naval Reserves, and as Dept.of Defense Police/Guard. |saluteflag|

I have been silent on this on purpose. I do indeed have very strong opinons. There are times and places I express them. I welcome anyone to express them here. I will listen, then agree or disagree. But I will probably not express my opinon here. That's not why I am here.

But the ability to do so, and to argue the point is really my point. We can do that. For that I am thankful. Carry on good folks. You are all good people. I am proud to associate with each and every one of you. |cheers| |saluteflag|

If you are against the 2-party system, take a look at the Libertarian Party at www.lp.org. Although they may have a few extremists, they are not the anarchists the media would have you think. They just want the government out of our lives and taxing only for necessary infrastructure. Wouldnt have brought it up, but since everyone on the thread is bashing the 2-party system...

Well now, this is an enteresting topic! Frankly I dont think it matters who is elected, one of the two party guys or a third party guy, it makes no differance. Even if you arent corrupt going in, you WILL be comin out. Suppose you elect an actual "good guy" for pres. Well thats great, and if he sticks to his guns guess what....He will never get anything done! Congress will make sure of that. The only way to change the system is to change the WHOLE SYSTEM otherwise your just pissing in the wind.
The "sheeple" are just too complacent to get anything done, and as a whole they dont care as long as they are allowed to eek out thier day to day lives.
BTW been in the USAF since 93, helicopter gunner, been to Bosnia, Afghan, Iraq, and some other spots. Ill stay in till I hit 20 then Im movin to Thailand. The happiest place on earth. Great weather, Great food, the nicest folks on the planet, and everything is cheap as hell, $1000 goes a long way. Also corrupt as hell. BUT its pretty much out in the open. If you do something pay the cop a "fine" and all is forgiven. I dont mind corruption as long as the people arent trying to come off wholesome and saintly, just be honest, hell we are only human
