Guys,
I couldn't agree with all of you more. I was a career AF guy and traveled a fair amount. My son's mother and I divoriced when he was pretty young. Thus, I didn't see him as much as I would have liked. Now ... he's a career Army guy - on his second Iraq tour, after being in the first wave into both Bosnia and Kosovo, plus being in Panama when we went in after Noriega. He's currently stationed at Ft. Sill, OK - "only" about 1500 miles from my home.
The nice thing is that we're really close now - well not in miles, but in feelings for each other. I guess that's about all I could ask - at least for now. So ... Harry Chapin's "The Cat's In The Cradle" really does apply to me (us) a lot and, yes, it makes me think about "woulda, coulda, shoulda" quite often.

Yeah,my dad was in the Navy almost 30 years. We moved around every 2-3 years,& it seemed I was always the new kid in school. We lived all over the East & West coast,Spain,Japan, etc.,& dad was never around much.He was in WW2,Korea,& when we lived in Japan,he was always making clandestine trips into S.E.Asia.One more trip & he planned to retire, and I was hoping to get to know him better. He never came home again...alive. I was 15. C3RVETTE 38849.0015740741
