I have fond memories of cruising at night back in the late 60's (rural Iowa) At night we could pick up long distance signals from the AM stations. I remember listening to Larry Lujack on WLS out of Chicago and would pick up a station out of Little Rock Arkansas (can't remember station letters). They always were running ads about Floyd's Record shop! Anyone out there remember this? Great tunes back then like Green Onions and Magic Carpet Ride!

Yep,listened to all those bands when I came back to the States.I didnt actually get here and go to school here till late 1971 to finish high school,& didnt have my '67 Camaro until around 1972-3.Then when the serious cruisin' started |thumb| I had moved around alot before, mostly overseas-Spain,Japan,etc.-as a Navy kid. Then I joined the Marines in '76,& the Marines are known for enjoying they're off time, cruising, etc.Listened to a lot of music from Marines from all over the country. |saluteflag| |biggrin| P.S. Oh,of course I managed to check alot of the bands out in concert |cheers|

I remember visiting family in Clarksburgh, WV in '76 (my aunt married an American). The Marines wanted me to join up. I told them I only wanted a poster. The recruiting office said that if I joined up he'd give me all the posters I could carry. I told him that I was Canadian. He said that that didn't matter. He said that there were Americans in the Canadian military and lots of Canadians in the US forces and that a lot of them were Vietnam vets. I still declined. What would I have told my folks? Who knows...could that recruiting officer have been C3RVETTE? |grin|
