Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.
Well folks. I'd say the mid thirties to the mid-forties seems to be the average so far, and I'll just add my statistic of turning 40 this coming November.

It's actually ironic that just two days ago I burned a CD for my wife to take to work that had most all of the songs you all just mentioned. However, if I were to pick some favorites they would have to be:

Run through the Jungle - CCR
Kick It Out - Heart
Grey Seal - Elton John
Get Ready - Rare Earth not Marvin Gaye

Just to name a few...

I grew up with 4 older brothers and 2 older sisters so they pretty much influenced me musically, so let's never forget the immortal Frank Zappa (Joes Garage, and Catholic Girls)!

Sorry I couldn't make it to Hershey with you all. Looks like you had a blast!

The Seventies were a great time for me. I remember telling a friend in 1976. "If I could just get a job making $20,000 a year I'll buy a nice house with a garage and a new vette". I hit the $20 grand mark in '79 but it took until last month for the vette.

Some of my younger friends make fun of the Seventies...disco, clothes, hair styles.|eek| But I counter buy saying "Yeah, but in the seventies safe sex was pulling the bed away from the wall!" |bouncy| |thumb| |laugh|

Ya,I've had Chevys, but havent had a Vette till I picked this one up for about $7 G's about 2 yrs ago.Its worth about $10-12,000.Insured through American Collectors. You know I listen to every band listed by you guys, and it seems like every one has some memory, emotion,or girl attached to it.Sometimes I wish I could go back with what I know now and try a few things over, but I guess everybody does, huh? |cheers| |thumb| As far as the '70's go,I despised 99% of Disco(rock is dead? |laugh| ),didnt particularly like the bell-bottoms,although you could have caught me in them a few times...but the music still influences bands today |idea|

It's funny how certain songs remind you of the girls you dated...Philadelphia Freedom, Us & Them, Stairway To Heaven, Sister Golden Hair, |smokin| Smokin' In The Boys Room etc. Possibly that's why I own mid-seventies cars -1976 Corvette, 1976 442 |headscratch|. Of course back then, no mortgage, no (real) work, entire summer off |thumb|, out with friends every Fri & Sat nights, sleep in 'till 2 pm. that could have something to do with it too.

I picked up my vette last month. I had to get it appraised to get collector car insurance. The guy came over and appraised it today. When I told my wife that I was thinking of getting a vette she said ("We already have an old car,(Olds 442) I don't want to hear anymore about a vette." So, I didn't mention it again until I came home with it"|no-no|

I paid $4995 USD ($7000 CAD)for it and today the appraiser tells me replacement value is approx. (he has to work it out) $16,000 CAD!!(about $12-13,000 USD) I told my wife...she loves the car |headscratch| . Oh well, I bought it for fun, but the investment doesn't hurt either |biggrin|. Seems Corvettes are better than mutuals

Well,I actually havent had an appraisal, the insurance company didnt require it for either the Olds or the Vette.Didnt even ask for photos 'till I added the the Olds! Just thought of a couple of mellow bands I listened to occasionally that remind me of girls-Bread,& the Hollies,Sugarloaf.Anybody heard of RamJam and their one hit,"Bam-a-Lam"? |idea|

Here if you want what they call "Silver Wheels" your car has to be appraised. It a lot cheaper than regular ins. If the appraiser's guestimate is right and it comes back at $16,000 CAD then my yearly premimum will be $160 for 1 million coverage $100 deductable for any damage, window breakage or theft, protection from uninsured drivers, etc. It's not to bad.

I remember Bam-a-Lam!! If that song reminds you of a girl, then I don't think there's a forum on this site that would be ready for that kind of memory |laugh| |haha| |eek| |no-no|
