A while back I was asking about cement prices because I wanted to pour a floor in my old barn. Well, finally with the help of my cousin and some of his cement working friends I'll be getting one soon. We were hoping to have it done by the time I left for school, but he and his friends have been really busy. He said it should be done by the time I come back home for Thanksgiving. I spent a lot of time the past couple of weeks getting it ready. I cleaned it out and we threw away tons of junk. Then I power washed it and painted it white. It took a lot of primer and paint, because the wood had never been painted before. Its old, but its very solid. They don't make 'em like they used to, that's for sure. Its a pretty good size too. It'll hold my extended cab F-150 with a couple feet extra in length and room to open both doors without worrying about smashing them into a wall. I think its about 25 x 15 feet. To keep it clear of junk and other stuff, I'm cementing an adjoining room as well that is about 17 x 13. That's where I'm going to keep most of my other stuff so I have plenty of room to work on the vette in the other room. If all goes well (which I do have bad luck and still see myself having to wait another year to get a floor for stupid reasons) I'll be fixing up the suspension starting Thanksgiving. Cross your fingers for me.

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.

Great news. It is really nice to have a place to work on a vehicle. The concrete floor is a must. Works great with a creeper.

Good luck with the floor. If you can afford it, get it sealed with a good sealer that you can just wipe up grease and oil.
I'll look into that.

Hey Guy, You are lucky to have your garage that far along. Mine has been under construction for 3 months, and it is just a pole garage. Just last night I finished nailing the roof boards on. I am using 1 inch sheeting boards for walls and roof, so there is a lot of pounding. I hope to get the shingles on by the weekend and maybe close in the gable ends. So far I have bought 2500 board feet of lumber just for the roof and walls. I ordered the door yesterday. 730.00. now I have all the materials except electrical and a few odds and ends. I blew my concrete floor budget last month on my Harley. At least I should have a place to park my toys this winter, even if it is on gravel floor.

After a two year struggle, last week I finally got my Certificate of Occupancy for my garage. Would have NEVER believed it would take this long. Now I can start insullating and dry walling and hang up all the neat stuff I bought for the walls and I can seriously start thinking about ordering my lift and getting to work on the Vete !
One of the guys in my club owns an oil heating business and he promissed me he would GIVE me the next working heater he takes out of a house. Apparently he just junks most of the old heaters. I ran a 220 line to one of the windows so I guess when air conditioners go on sale, I will be looking for a 15,000 btu window unit. Heck, maybe I will just put a TV out there and rent out the house.
