It does bring back memories.......and I had a powder blue suit from Sears that I wore to the Christmas Formal at the Women's Club in 1980. (I was a junior in high school.)

I've had a drivers license over twice as long as I haven't!!!

The first time I got to stay up late was to watch Neil Armstrong step on the moon, on a B&W console TV that I was usually part of the antenna for.  Grab hold of that Tin Foil and move around until the pic is better.

I was also the remote control.

I remember running home to be able to watch Dark Shadows.

We had to cut wood in the spring so it would cure enough to burn that winter.
The TV show "Love, American Style" was a favorite of mine right after school.  Yeah, that's right, we had to rush home to watch our favorite shows.  No VCR's, no DVR's, no TIVO!  The TV had to "warm" up before you got a picture, even.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Pinch
LIFE WITHOUT TIVO!!!  I can't believe there ever was such a time.  Don't remind me!!!

I'm a few months over 60, and I find the part about the "Atari 2600" hysterical. LOLI remember having to ask our neighbor to get off the telephone so I could call my buddies. I remember when games were played with cards, on boards or outside. TV was black and white, there were 4 channels that signed on at 6:00 AM and signed off at midnight. We only had one telephone and our our number only had 5 numbers and you kept it for life. If you messed up at school, you failed and had to go to summer school. There was actually only one winner in any game we played. You got no points for participating. If you misbehaved at school, the wrath of the principal was nothing compared to the wrath of my parents, when I got home. rushed home after school to watch American Bandstand and I had to sneak a radio under the covers to listen to rock and roll becase my dad hated it. FM radios barely existed so we listened to WLS in Chicago, WOKY in Milwaukee or WBZ in Boston. If the atmosphere was just right, we could get Wolfman Jack out of LA. A C-1 corvette was about the coolest car I had ever seen.

FULL service gas stations, with $.35 a gallon, PREMIUM(Ethyl) fuel...ya had to do your math homework on paper...NOT with a calculator...if you got in trouble in school, ya got a whoopin there, AND one when ya got home...there were no metal detectors in schools...if ya got in a fight, you were fighting bare knuckles, if someone had a beef with the school, they painted graffiti on the walls in the hallways...there was no such thing as "Time out", except in sports....
These young whippersnappers got it so dang easy these days....

OMG!!!! I just turned into my DAD!!!!

The 80's!!!!!!! hell my kids grew up in the 80's. I grew up in the '50s in Brooklyn and Queens NY. Stick ball on the street with manholes as home & second, 1st & 3rd were whatever was at the curb, sign, car, hydrant.
When it was dinner time my father would whisle out the window, we could here it for 10 blocks away. Those were hard times for my folks, but we kids always had fun.
Moved to Jersey in 9th grade and then I found cars & girls. Now those were the fun times!!!!!

Wow TV in those days...... My sister and I got to stay up long enough to see Topo Geejo (the mouse) on the Ed Sullivan show. And then some years later on Friday nights on ABC was The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, Nanny And The Professor, The Odd Couple, and Love American Style. And of course when I was much younger The Andy Griffith Show. I love Barney.Big%20smile Oh about the cell phones, in the late 80's I was working at a place that had these mobile phones that were about 10 inches long with a 4 inch antenna and were about 5 lb. They were about as big as Maxwell Smart's shoe phone. Aaron19762008-02-19 12:07:29

Brings back a lot of memories.  Man, I was 10 before I saw my first TV and we didn't get one till I was 12.  Couldn't keep me away from it.  Watched every show, no matter what it was.  I remember us watching all the shows already mentioned, also I Love Lucy, Jack Benny, Sid Caesar, Howdy Doody, Mickey Mouse Club and so many others.  Like all the other kids, I fell in love with Annette.  They just don't make shows like that anymore.  I remember seeing Elvis on his first Ed Sullivan appearance.  Those were the good ol' days.
