Vette(s): 1972 Coupe Anything, but Stock and more mods to come! SSBC Force 10 Brakes, 3.73, TH350, 355 CID, Rack and Pinion, Vette Brakes suspension front and rear.

I had to talk my wife off a ledge on Friday over gas prices.  She thought we were going to have to go to drastic measures like selling stuff or changing jobs so we don't commute or something like that to make ends meet.

I had to show her on paper that while prices did spike up that we were only talking about another 20 dollars per week to go back and forth to work.  In reality thats not bad considering what is and has been going on, but that it would add up over time and ultimately it will affect our budget, but we would just be wiser about what we were doing and how to maximize our gas and energy use.

Yes, I have discovered the secret of how to get a gas mileage of better than 50mpg in a C3... just only drive downhill

... however there is a wee logistical issue, as the astute C3RVETTE cleverly identied above...

Ho hum.

If you put larger tires on the rear, you'll ALWAYS be goin downhill. Just be sure to readjust your headlights!
Gas here now $3.20gal.

Actually Joel, if you put bigger tires on the back it will reduce accelleration, but due to the fact the tires will turn less revolution per mile, they will get better mileage!    In cars with computers or small this doesn't always work, but it will with all of our C3s.   Now if we can just clear the wheel wells.........

I put 17" wheels on,but lower profile tires.I guess I should go pro-street,& instead of 245-45-17's I should go with 245-75-17's to save fuel?

But a C3 would not look right with Gumbo Monster Mudder tires.

hey guys, back to the "name brand" vs generic gasoline idea....Does it matter? Is there a difference? (and is premium fuel in a non-computer car with a SB worth the money?)
hey guys, back to the "name brand" vs generic gasoline idea....Does it matter? Is there a difference? (and is premium fuel in a non-computer car with a SB worth the money?)
NOPE! Gas is gas.The only difference really is the additives different companies use.I've seen an "investigative" type report on some news program,& read something somewhere that states the same thing.I work in oil refineries,& I personally have seen all brands of tanker trucks pull into a Texaco Refinery truck loading rack, fill up,then the drivers all adding there own mix of additives, depending on which place got the delivery...Shell,Arco,BP,etc...      ; Read this-> http://www.baltimoresun.com/business/bal-bz.gas23jun23,0,958 836.story?coll=bal-business-headlines C3RVETTE38611.803599537
