The price is going up fast here. I just filled up and Chevron was $3.10 for premium. The other day it was $2.89. Price range around here is about $3.10 to $3.25.
price gouger->                                  looters->      ...oil refineries->
Ditto here... and the press for harping on shortages... so what does everyone do... they run out and fill everything they got, gas cans boats etc not caring about the price (which is what the oil companies want)... most say charge what you want but just don't cut me off...

Happened in the 70's, but they can't use that old run out of oil scheme, because that was 30 years ago and the oil never dried up like they scared us into believing. Now it's refineries, and weather, or any other excuse we will believe... just a bunch of carpet baggers with record profits... when was your last record (or windfall)profit?

Whatever happened to "windfall profit" tax?

A windfall tax is a one-off tax levied where some unexpected increase in profits or value is made which the government or the public think is an unreasonable advantage taken at the public's expense

I thought I heard on somewhere that there is going to be an investigation into the huge profits the oil companies are making,at our expense.But who's investigating ? Congress? I'm not sure how many ofthem are in those companies pockets already.And price gougers on gas,food,& supplies oughta see the inside of a prison,if they do it when peoples lifes,& need of shelter, are at stake...or any other time for that matter!

Vette(s): Silver '81 mostly original C3. Silver interior, bilstiens, big sway bars, headers.
Here in New Zealand we have just hit $NZ6.75 / gallon which is $US4.73 at current exchange rate.
But hey, it hasn't stopped me. Yet.
I just drink less and spend the savings on petrol

Here's what I can't figure out. All the big oil brands in town are 3.09,  and ARCO and the lesser known brands are 2.89. So why do the higher pirced ones still have people at the pumps? The local Tesoro station was at 3.35 for reg. two days ago. Still some dummies are goin in for it. I don't think Chevron's additive techron does any more that the stuff that comes from the ARCO pumps at a lower price.

The only difference that any brands have are the addtives the truckers do or dont put in when they fuel up.I would definately go cheaper now,& do. I only get gas at a local Safeway station or Costco,whenever possible

From my stocks.  I just got richer...

To me the Oil Companies are getting smarter in the way the produce oil and sell them.  If you need advise.  The government and oil companies are (like in the '70's) are BSing everyone.  The hurricane, yes did do damage to some refiners but we still have storage tanks through out the USA.  To my knowledge, they were full to capacity before the hurricane hit landfall.  So why is this country in crises on the fuel (besides the population)?
