Vette(s): 1976 L48 T-top, Automatic, ps,pb,a/c, Everything stock. Good car in great shape.
I used to live in Indy. Race week was a total blast. I would spend all week at the track. There's always something going on. You guys have fun! If you get a chance, you got to walk around the snakepit as well. there usually a good show or two in there!!!

DaveM and I were there last week, on our way home from the Gathering in AR.
Toured the Museum and that was well worth the $3.
There were a couple of Nascar vehicles there taking some laps.
Ear plugs are highly recommended.
You will also want to stop in the gift shops and get some souveniors.
Bring your charge card.
And there will be two Vette Pace cars, in honor of the 30th anniversary of the first Vette Pace car.
Have a ball!!!!

Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed
Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.
You guys behave and have fun. It will be an awsome experience for you if you have never attended. From past experiences I would bring these little hidden extras... Sunscreen, ear plugs, trash bag (raincoat). These items don't take up much space but sure can increase your comfort level!
Mark, I would definitely agree on the sunscreen and trashbag or actual poncho. The earplugs are a must for the Nascar race, but personally, I just love to hear those Indy cars at full roar!!!
Larry left out the most important item to bring - BEER. The Motor Speedway allows you to bring in coolers (smaller than 14"). It sure beats buying beer and food there!!
Are the passes you got paper or are they metal badges? I had a badge last year. Different colors get you into different areas. I wasn't supposed to be able to get into the pits, but someone looked at mine wrong, and I was able to stroll around there for a while!!
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
Been to the Brickyard a bunch of times. Really a fun place to go. Don't miss the museum. Lot's of racing history, plus soon as you enter there's a Mako Shark. Make sure you bring camera.
Ear plugs? Naw. Gotta love the roar of those engines................

Thanks everyone maybe I will sock a trashbag in a pocket, earplugs in another

Right now the forcast is calling for rain at the start of the race. Heck, it's early and in Indiana you can count on that changing.
Probally the best advice for you guys is going to be where to park and easy access in to and away from the track. If you haven't got that info yet and want it I can give you a couple of suggestions if I know where you are driving in from. (I-70 maybe?) Mapquest or GPS will help but won't tell the story because the event is so large that roads get shut down and routes changed to accomodate it.

Thanks Aaron, PM sent. And Tux any info on parking would be greatly appreaciated
I don't know what route will will be taking down but we will be coming out of the Chicago area. Maybe Mike will chime in and let us know, I don't know this area at all.

Terry there's no way I'm missing the muesum, I'm flying out Tuesday so that I can spend most of Monday there. I hope Pace Car #1 will be there along with #2.

When Mark first PMed me about the race I had to think about it.....for about 30 seconds! Hell yeah!

Tux, Any info on routes and especially parking would be especially appreciated. Coming south on I65 maybe to I465.
Was even thinking maybe parking by the convention center right off I65 and taking a bus or cab to the track. Is that feasable?
Looking at the map, how about parking near the Lafayette Square shopping center and bussing straight down Georgetown Rd?
This is the only aspect of this that makes me nervous! I'd hate to screw things up!
What's the area the day after? Will we be able to drive right up to the museum parking lot?
