I will ask my daughter what routes are going to be open this year. (She lives downtown.) If Indygo (Indy bus company) is going to have downtown pick up and you want to stay clear of the track that works pretty good. They shuttle folks straight in.

From 465 you would take I65 to I 70 to the West St exit. Turn right and go about 5 blocks and your at the Convention Center . (on the right)

The day after traffic is pretty normal going to the Speedway. Comming from the area it is some heavier due to people still leaving that had camped out for the race. But it is still not too bad.

I'll do some checking today and get back with you...

Was even thinking maybe parking by the convention center right off I65 and taking a bus or cab to the track. Is that feasable?

What's the area the day after? Will we be able to drive right up to the museum parking lot?
[/QUOTE]

There is a federal law that prohibits federally funded transportation from competing with public companies...  However, somehow, the local bus company (Indy Go) got a waiver, so they will be providing busses to and from the track.  I will watch for details as to where they are starting from.

As for the day after, as long as the race doesn't rain out on Sunday, the track is typically a ghost town on Monday.

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

I've been reading with great interest the posts about the Indy 500.  I'll be going for the first time this Memorial Day Weekend.  My brother and his son-in-law, who lives in Indianapolis, have attended for years and they invited me this year.Big%20smile  Really looking forward to it.

I'll be sure and take ear plugs, sunscreen and a trash bag.  Thanks for the tip.Wink  They will think I know what I'm doing.LOL

Cilrah, hope all is well with you today. I suspect that you are counting down the days till you head for Indy. Track officially opens tomorrow with lots of activity. They honor the Unser family racing history also tomorrow.. I usually pick up the Indy Star most of the month as there is always something going on. I was spiffing our '78pc in the garage and heard that one of the Indy area gas stations is having some type of pace car giveaway. Will have to check more on that. Last week at this time I was caring for 2008 black/silver #37 replica.. Tomorrow is the Hoosier Corvette Club Spring Fling at Ray Skillman auto collection in Greenwood, IN.

Take care - GaryC - Franklin, IN

Thats cool Dean Thumbs%20Up  This my first time ever also, I'm so excited   Maybe we will run into each other at the race, don't know if we could set up a place to meet cause it might be hard with another 300,000 people being there.

Cool Gary, thanks for joining the C3VR  Clap  You'll love this place.  Hey keep us posted on the goings on.  I wish I could be there for race week but I'm lucky just getting the following week off from work.

When I first thought about going I didn't even know if I could get the time off.  Then when I checked in work I realized that my vacation starts on the 25th Clap  I get off work at 9am on the 24th, man that couldn't be better timing.  Thanks again for the info and joining the C3VR.

If you choose to do this you should take the downtown location. It is much closer to where you want to be and less distance easier cheaper parking as well. Off of 465 you would take the west st exit. I'll work on this Monday for you.Tuxblacray2008-05-04 21:29:29

Tux, is I65 better to get downtown? I remember leaving the auto show at the convention center last January and just driving a few blocks to get to I65 north. Looking at my map I think it was exit 113.  Is there enough parking downtown when there's a big event going on in town? mkapp78792008-05-04 21:56:11
