Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.

I don't know if there's some national blood donation month or anything, but I wanted to take a minute and encourage everyone to donate as often as possible.
Growing up, my dad donated every chance he got, but since I had (and still do have) a serious fear of needles, I never would. About five years ago, my mother became ill and needed regular transfusions and lots of platelets. On more than one occasion, a transfusion or platelets saved her life and kept her going. I decided to start giving. On the day that I was to give my first batch of platelets, my mom fell and bumped her head and ended up dying within 24 hours.
I now give platelets on a regular basis (you can give platelets very often- they reccommend no more than every 14 days, but realistically, they will allow you to give every three to four days if needed), and give whole blood when there is a shortage.
I had recently considered stopping giving, because of my schedule and also because I still get bad needle anxiety every time. However, the other day, I received a call from the blood center. I had given the week before, and the blood center received a call from a doctor who wanted them to get me back in asap. A Leukemia patient had stopped responding to platlets from her family, but had a very positive reaction to mine. They needed two units a week, and wanted to see if I could help. I went in yesterday, and I am scheduled again for Tuesday. I guess I'll keep giving beyond that as well.
I write this today to encourage all of you who are healthy enough to give blood or blood products to do so on a regular basis. Help coordinate blood drives at work (how 'bout a blood drive at next year's C3VR Gathering!). Do what you can. The blood helps people on a regular basis, and every so often, you can save a life.
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

My stepfather, who I lived with most of my entire life has given like gallons of blood and I used to while in the Army. And, my son was giving blood regularly before he left for college, I think I need to get back to donating. It really is very important, what more then possibly saving a life.

Yes doners are the unspoken heros. At any time your blood saves a life. Never donated now I will tomorrow.

I'm in there every 56 days. My grandfather needed LOTS back in 1982, he died anyway, but I have given regularly ever since.
I'm up to almost 13 gal of whole blood. Our Oklahoma Blood Institute is very good at getting the word out.
When the bombing occurred in '95, they rounded up all of us government employee civilians willing to give if we had O+, O-, or AB+/- and took us to the donation center. It took me 6 1/2 hours go get in and they were still taking well into the night.
It is true, you never know how you can impact someones life with just a minor at best inconvenience upon your time.
PLEASE GIVE!

I have been giving at least twice a year since I started working when I turned 18.
Just figured it was the least I could do.
And an hour off from work ain't bad.
Plus free cookies and drinks.
What more could anyone want?
If you have never given before, just try it once.
