Gun Control Whether you agree or not, it's an interesting lesson in history. Something to think about... ------------------------------ In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. ------------------------------ In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. ------------------------------ Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated. ------------------------------</ STRONG> China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. ------------------------------ Guatemala established gun control in 1964.. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. ------------------------------ Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. ------------------------------ Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million 'educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. ----------------------------- Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million. ------------------------------ It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent, Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)! In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. (Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!) While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed. There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it. You won't see this data on the American evening news. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the law-abiding citizens. Take note my fellow Americans.....before it's too late! The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson. ;With guns, we are 'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'. If you value your freedom, Please spread this anti-gun control message to all of your friends |
Why can't dumb arse politicians get it that only honest people will turn in guns. That leaves a lot of dishonest people with all the fire-power. The balance is tipped in the wrong direction. Funny thing...many politicians have a ccw permit to carry personal firearms.

While we are also NRA lifers, I am concerned with the softening of the rhetoric coming out of the NRA. Perhaps they are lulled to sleep as well with the Repub's in office.
I hope not.
Gun Control...Ignorance in Action!
Free People own Firearms...Subjects Don't!

Big Bullets Make Things Move!

I think that we have sufficient gun control laws in this nation, now we need a heck of a lot more "violence control" and the moral & political guts to enforce the concequences of perpetrating violence, of any kind.
Use a weapon in a crime, 15 years mandatory, no parole, on top of the sentence for the crime.

they did. They understood--from bitter personal experience--that unless
the Constitution had built in protections for citizens against their
government, America might very well--and probably would--go the way
of so many other civilizations throughout history.
The pathetic educational system in this country fails to teach that all-
important lesson: that our system of government doesn't just grant us
rights--it was also deliberately designed to provide ironclad protections
against what our founders knew full well would be the inevitable
encroachment by government upon those rights.
But this country is so ignorant of history...so unable and unwilling to
grasp what's at stake with basic issues like this one...and, most tragically
of all, completely unaware of what we're now facing in the world, and why
we're facing it.
Today, of all days in recent history, America should be more keenly aware
and informed about the looming threat that could engulf Western
civilization in an epic struggle for the sheer survival of our way of life and
our values. But we're not. Instead, we're treated to re-runs of the horror
of that day, and no light is shed on the underlying reason why it
happened. Because it's just not politically correct--meaning possible in
this country--to do so.
Concerning gun control, it's an issue that will never be resolved. Those
who endorse it are convinced to their core that they're right. And those
who oppose it are just as committed to their position. In the midst of all
this endless argument, what's lost sight of is that the Constitution was
written the way it was for a reason. If we forget, or choose to ignore or
repudiate that reason, we will have only ourselves to blame when the
consequences that our founders knew--from understanding and
experiencing history's lessons themselves--happen as a result.
Yep, if people in Tasmania some years ago, had a rifle about the house, all 35 people killed by the maniac Bryant who let fly with shotguns and an SKS, would not be dead. Bryant himself would be or at least maimed enough to stop his rampage.
People kill people, not guns. I've never seen a rifle or pistol jump out of its storage place, load itself and kill someone.
