Without going into the graphic specifics of sacrifices made, friends lost, and horrors seen, it can’t be said better than this.

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher,

who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN, not the reporter,

who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN, not the poet,

who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer,

who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer,

who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN, not the politician,

Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the VETERAN,

who salutes the Flag,

It is the veteran,

who serves under the Flag,

ETERNAL REST GRANT THEM O LORD,

AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM.

I don't know if you saw this in the news but it really impressed me. Funny, our US Senate/House took 2 days off as they couldn't work because of the expected storm.

On the ABC evening news, it was reported tonight that, because of the dangers from Hurricane Isabelle approaching Washington, DC, the military members assigned the duty of guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier were given permission to suspend the assignment.

They respectfully declined the offer, "No way, Sir!"

Soaked to the skin, marching in the pelting rain of a tropical storm, they said that guarding the Tomb was not just an assignment, it was the highest honor that can be afforded to a serviceperson.

The tomb has been patrolled continuously, 24/7, since 1930.

GOD BLESS THOSE WHO HAVE PROVIDED US THE ABILITY TO ENJOY THE FREEDOM THAT WE ALL SHARE.
ENJOY YOUR DAY ..........TUXBLACRAY................

I just got this from a Vet.
HELLO,

TODAY I GIVE THANKS AND REMEMBER THE SERVICE MEMBERS WHO DIDN'T COME HOME - AND I GIVE THANKS FOR ALL OF YOU - WHO IN SOME WAY TOUCHED MY LIFE - EITHER THROUGH FATHERING ME, SERVING WITH AND LEADING ME, GIVING ME THE LOVE OF MY LIFE - OR BEING THE LOVE OF MY LIFE - YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

- WE HAVE ALL SACRIFICED IN SOME WAY, SHAPE OR FORM - BUT TODAY WE HONOR THE ONES WHO DIDN'T COME HOME - WHO ARE BURIED AT SEA, IN FLANDERS FIELD, ONES WHO WE DON'T KNOW WHERE THEY ARE BURIED - AN ETERNAL PRESENCE MUST BE KEPT FOR THEM UNTIL WE BRING THEM HOME AGAIN, AND WE WILL.

- FREEDOM IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR, AND WE ARE ALL WARRIORS NOW, REMEMBER THE BRAVE CIVILIAN SOULS WHO BROUGHT DOWN THE PLANE IN PENNSYLVANIA, I THINK ABOUT THEM TODAY TOO -

JEREMY GLICK AND TODD BEAMER - I WILL FOREVER REMEMBER THEM.

-OUR WAR ON TERROR IS NOT JUST FOR THE MILITARY HEROES - BUT THE CIVILIAN ONES AS WELL - WE ARE ONE NATION, UNDER GOD, INDIVISABLE - AND THAT'S WHAT IT WILL TAKE TO KEEP US FREE.

-AND WE MUST NOT FORGET THE THOUSANDS THAT DIED IN NEW YORK CITY, AS WE CANNOT FORGET THE THOUSANDS THAT DIED AT PEARL HARBOR - THEY ARE FOREVER INTERTWINED - AND WE WILL HONOR THEIR SACRIFICES TODAY - AND FOR ALWAYS - AND I WILL HONOR THE SACRIFICES OF ALL OF YOU TODAY - THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE FOR OUR COUNTRY - AND YOU ALL KNOW WHAT THAT SACRIFICE HAS BEEN - HAVE A SAFE AND "REMEMBERING" MEMORIAL DAY - AND I WILL TALK TO ALL OF YOU SOON.

MIKE

Lest not we forget.
Dave
