The prognosis going in is minimum 3 to 6 weeks recovery. Eureka is in less than two weeks so I don't think I'll be driving.

I'm hoping against hope that I can go with 71Shark when he goes over on Wed afternoon as a passenger, but it will depend on the doc and the drugs.
I was taking 2-7.5 mg Loritab's every 4 hours and it didn't touch the little man with the BIG ball peen hammer tapping incessantly on my heel bone.

Anyway, I'll probably be off the site till Monday or so. The wife will call 71Sharks wife so he may post how it's going if he gets a chance.
Hope everyone going to Eureka has an extra special weekend and safe travels to all.

Sorry to hear that, but if it has to be done to fix your foot, you gotta do it. It will seem like a long time healing in a cast but just look forward to the end results. I put a 2-1/2" ring shank nail from a nail gun into my ankle back in Feburary and spend 6 weeks in a cast up to my knee. Had a hair line crack in the same ankle from an earlier acident on my bike that bothered me off and on until the nail finished it off. The Doc screwed it all back together and it's better than new now. If you're on pain meds now, better days are ahead.

From what I understand, you'll need those drugs if you're gonna let 71Shark drive!!!

Dennis, I KNOW the pain you feel...went thru the exact same thing back in '98, except for the surgery. Couldn't walk at all in the mornings, or after sitting for a while. Dr. said it was the plantar facia what-cha-ma-call-it thingy on BOTH feet.
Shot me up with some cortizone for about a month or two while debating treatment.
He finally decided surgery was a possibility, but wanted to try custom made inserts for my shoes first, with the understanding that it might take 6mo/year for full results.
My feet are fine now...and it DID take about a full year for the things to solve the issue. I would have never believed it had it not worked on me. As I said, I couldn't walk at all without massive pain in my heels. I actually was walking on the sides of my ankles because that's the only way I could without falling...
I hope the surgery takes care of it, and you're back "up & running" soon!!

Well hate to see ya have to go through the knife thing, but the family here feels your pain and for that reason alone you should ask your doc for a large enough supply of happy pills for all of us that will be in pain with you. just a thought.
L
before you get back up on feet, make sure you listen to the docs, the worst thing I have done to this fat old body was not to listen to the HEALING time and the THERAPY time, start to feel better so I just go for it and I have some very wore out areas on the body.
Get better in your bodies time not yours.
