Topic: Help w/Norton AV?

Should I be able to tell the Norton program to 'allow this site'?
Also, AOL (pre-installed, 60 day free) wants to fight with my Juno program over who has priority!!

apparently HAVE to use the AOL program to 'register' all this new crap. I just tried to go to the "windows update", but I couldn't do that either. It seems that even MS doesn't trust it's own software! It told me it "might be unsafe"!!

Any clues/help??

Uninstall Norton.
Get this free AntiVirus program:

Uninstall AOL since you don't use it anyway!

Anyway, what I said was..........
Thanks, guys. I had to keep the AOL crap until I got all my new software "registered". I don't get a single pop-up with my normal ISP, but I can't get to my home page on AOL without 6-7 of them comming up

Norton shall be deleted as soon as I get the new AV program installed. Thanks again!!

I have tried to d-load the 'grisoft' software, but, with a dial-up modem, I don't have an hour to do it!

I can't get Norton to allow my ISP (Juno); I have to turn it off to even get online, so it's useless

What is a good program (or combination) that won't break the bank? Any feedback will be welcomed!

Thanks!

Well Adam I feel for you still being stuck with dial up... been 3-4 years
since it was my only choice...
BUT I have NOT used Norton for about 3-4 years and I swear I will NEVER use it again... royally screwed up 2 of my computers to the point I had to boot from floppy format and completely re-install windows...
on both machines...
AVG may take an hour to download...and maybe it will take 3 minutes to update every single day since you are using a dialup connection...BUT that is what I would be doing...
My Cable company now gives their users "freedom" anti virus etc...
I tried it and went back to AVG in a few days...
The only Norton Program I now run is Norton Commander since I still
have not learned to be comfortable using winders I do most of my
utility & file work in Dos... NC is just a darn handy Dos shell...

I got it d-loaded (AVG) this evening after I came home. Checked to see if there were any responses to my latest post, and then just went ahead and started the d-load and let it run.(took about 45min) Whew!

As far as my ISP, Stephane, I gots unlimited usage(+e-mail) for the outrageous sum of $9.95 per month!

I might eventually step up to a DSL, but I have too much fun bitchin' about how long it takes to do things to change it now!!

Thanks again, folks! I knew I could count on the C3VR members for some solid help & advice!! You rule!
