How To install a wireless security system:
Go to a second-hand store, buy a pair of men's used work boots, a
really big pair.
Put them outside your front door on top of a copy of
Guns and Ammo magazine.
Put a dog dish beside it. A really big Dish.
Leave a note on your front door that says something like "Bubba,
Big Mike and I have gone to get more ammunition - back in?1/2 an hr.
Don't disturb the Pitbulls, they've just been wormed."

Sorry to hear about you loss, but ya the best answer would be Dobermin, German Shepard, or any large dog 
I've even got a 125lbs Golden Retriever and I'll tell you what, hes the sweetest dog in the world but I'll guarentee you this, he would not let anyone in our house if we were not at home. He sleep right by the door all day while we are away. Oh ya and I can just see our 26lbs Cocker Spaniel hanging off an intruders legs while Frisco has him by the ass
