First of all Steve. What operating system are you using? Is it an internal or external drive? if its internal you need to remove your computer case, remove you old player from the slot, and screw in new one. The cable going to it should be the same, so you just plug it in. When you start up the PC Windows should find it and say new hardware installed. It should locate the software to run it from there. Now I'm not a PC wiz, but I have installed my own hardware. If you have trouble, I'm sure there's a geek here to help ya.

Joel's right, you may need the software disk, or get it from the manufacturer web site. I use Nero Express, because I like it. You may borrow it if you like.
