Things are slowly beginning to get back to normal here.
We had the worst ice storm in YEARS!!!!!!!
NO power, NO cable (which meant NO internet connection) and alot of damage!!
WE got very lucky. Lost half of one of the BIG maple trees in our yard missed the house but what a mess.
Here is a link to pics that I took over 3 days.

We are one of the ''few'' that have our power back. In our town there are still 14,000 without power and still alot of power lines down as well as tree limbs. Getting to work is very tricky in the mornins!!!

I check my pics page. it should work now.
Well started out on Wed. as snow ...got 5 inches..was pretty and white etc etc etc...then in the night the ice came...scared the begesus outta me at 3AM!!! (one of the limbs broke off the tree)..then an hour or so later heard the same sound again..there went another limb...by 6Am I couldn't stand it any more...got out of bed turn on the back lights....and OMG..what a mess!
All day Thurs. *snap crack...rip tear...CRASH boom*!!!! trees toppling..branches breaking..power lines down all over the place. things are better today but still alot of power lines down and of course tons of debris (IE: trees branches limbs etc etc) along the roads. will be quite a while before things are back to noraml again.
BTW..my maple treee is still all broken etc etc in the yard and in the neighbors as well..a power line is tangled up in one of the broken branches (which is still precariously attached to the tree)..the line is ''live'' so can't get that mess cleaned up till the power co. comes out...which could be weeks!!!!!!!!!
But at least we have power now and heat and THANK GAWD!! CABLE!
which means I have an internet connection again!!!!

Debbie,
Glad to see your are still "with us" and hopefully no worse for the wear. We got about 9 inches of snow Thursday and they say we will be gettign a "soaking" rain tomorrow, starting out as freezing rain. I hate freezing rain. We started off with a freezing rain a couple years ago and ended up three and a half days with no power and where I live that also means no water as we are on wells and need the electric to run the pumps. The ice in the driveway was over 4 inches thick. Destroyed a lot of trees and homes.
At least tomorrow will be a good test for the new garage. With about 6 inches of snow still on it and ice on top of that...if the roof doesn't have a weight problem, it probably never will!

Deb,
The worst part of the whole thing is that you lost your internet connection!!!
Glad the Maple didn't hit the house! I have some pretty big trees near my house that I'm scared of the same thing happening to me.
Oh yeah, and what's with hubby's Vette sitting out in the ice!?!?!
We are supposed to get an ice storm here starting early in the AM tomorrow.
Cross your fingers for us!

One of the branches didn't miss by much...just a few feet!!! my holly tree and crab apple took the brunt of it.
The Power Company came late yesterday afternoon. so it wasn't weeks!
We get to clean up the mess this weekend..oh joy!......NOT!!!!!!!!
As for Hubby's Vette....well we only have a single carport...and Rosie is in there....she has NO paint and alot of bare fiberglass soooo....the Bad Boy had to stay outside.
No Damage though to his paint....since it did snow before we got the ice...once things started to melt on the Thursday..we went out and very carefully took the ice of BB and the truck...so no scratches.

Glad to hear that you are OK. I have a sisterinlaw that lives in Mooresville and she said it was bad. Good luck cleaning everything up. We missed your input while you were away.
