I'm about to plan a little trip with my family and extended family, and I would like to ask you to assist me. I'm going to walk across the border from the U.S. into Mexico, and I need to make a few arrangements. I know you can help with this.
I plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws. I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here.
So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Vicente Fox, that I'm on my way over? Please let him know that I will be expecting thefollowing:
1. Free medical care for my entire family.
2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.
3. All government forms need to be printed in English.
4. I want my kids to be taught by English-speaking teachers.
5. Schools need to include classes on American culture and history.
6. I want my kids to see the American flag flying on the top of the flag pole at their school with the Mexican flag flying lower down.
7. Please plan to feed my kids at school for both breakfast and lunch.
8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services.
9. I do not plan to have any car insurance, and I won't make any effort to learn local traffic laws.
10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from Pres. Fox to leave me alone, please be sure that all police officers speak English.
11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my house top, put flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.
12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, and don't enforce any labor laws or tax laws.
13. Please tell all the people in the country to be extremely nice and never say a critical word about me, or about the strain I might place on the economy.
I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all the people who come to the U.S. from Mexico. I am sure that Pres. Fox won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.
However, if he gives you any trouble, just invite him to go quail hunting with your V.P.

What this tells me is that the welfare of the illegal aliens in this country is more important to our elected officials than retired military men and women who followed orders, spent years away from their families and literally put their lives on the line for our country.
Pardon my rant, but this makes me VERY angry and disappointed. I think that we can expect the percentage of military people who stay in the service for a career to plummet and rightfully so.
I'm sure that there are those who would say that we have been getting a "deal" at $460/year plus co-pays, however, it wasn't what were promised in order to get us to trade years of our lives for healthcare security if we survived long enough to retire. The promise of lifelong healthcare after retirement had more impact on my career decision than the small check I receive each month.
OK, I've said my piece, I will go away.

They forgot to mention that after visiting we'll be settling in. Once settled in, we will bring over all our brothers and sisters and cousins, nieces, nephews and all their little kids to live with us in our house and we'll park on the lawns or where ever we can squeeze in 16 cars. The few of us that will work will share the house payment and have lots of "free" money left over to send back home and we'll save some so we can all branch out and buy more homes, bring more of our friends and family to live with all of us and before you know it most of the houses on the street will be owned by us and property values will go down because we don't care about keeping the places looking nice. Soon we will be able to afford the nicer houses in the nicer neighborhoods and trash them as well.
Oh, and...don't expect us to respect you or your country. 
You will cater to us, we will not conform to you.
I pay 700.00 a month for group health insurance for just my husband and myself for basic coverage. Every year the premium goes up and the benefits go down. Renewal time is coming up. I am afraid to see what the new rate will be and what the benefits will be dropped to. I'm one of those that makes too much money for help, not enough to afford health care. At the end of each year, the health insurance company charges me "my portion" to pay into the uninsured fund. I remember when I was uninsured and had to have major surgery....I got no help what so ever.

Ouch! I know that most people pay a lot more than we do for healthcare insurance, however, the "free" healthcare was supposed to go toward "reimbursing" us for over 20 years of substandard pay and being away from our families 90 percent of the time, not to mention the possibility of being killed or injured while on the job. We were paying about $250 per month for our health insurance when I was working for Lockheed Martin about ten years ago and I imagine that cost has at least doubled since then.
I don't know the answer to the outrageous cost of healthcare in our country, however, something will have to be done to bring them under control soon or virtually no one will be able to afford healthcare insurance or doctor and hospital visits. Healthcare costs always go up much faster than other cost-of-living expenses. One thing that would help keep down the costs of medications would be to prohibit the advertising of prescription medications to the general public. Our TV channels are full of advertisements for prescription medications and this is one thing that drives up the cost since national-level TV advertising is not cheap and those costs are passed on to the consumer.
In any case, we need to tighten up our boarders, not necssarily to keep out the Mexican and South Americans seeking work, but to keep the terrorists out as our porous borders have become a pressing physical security issue.
Unfortunately, we can blame ourselves. whenever any minority group wants special privilege's all they have to do is protest, riot, and loot. All we do when we don't like something is to complain among ourselves. If we took a moment to call our reps, I mean raise hell with them and don't vote them in for a second term we might get their attention. We blame the Pres (any Pres) for everything, but we don't do much else. It doesn't matter anymore any way We're really screwed when Hillary becomes the Pres.
