Topic: ILLEGAL AMERICANS
in Forum: Humor
Illegal immigrant is just that. Illegal.
While these people do work that Americans don't want to do, and keep cost down, they are illegal. Period.
Instead of other measures, why not create a way, or enforce the ways we have, to make these folk legel and conform to OUR methods ans ways. Not theirs. We don't need to make them citizens and give them all the benifits of citizens. But we could collect taxes, have them conform to our laws, etc. What ever happened to green cards? This situation is absurd. So is all the money we send to help people who hate us. Why?
[QUOTE=proracr] Hi Mickey,
Ouch! I know that most people pay a lot more than we do for healthcare insurance, however, the "free" healthcare was supposed to go toward "reimbursing" us for over 20 years of substandard pay and being away from our families 90 percent of the time, not to mention the possibility of being killed or injured while on the job. Just to make it clear, I wasn't trying to point out that you are getting a "good deal". You earned what you were promised, no doubt about it. I was trying to point out how bad of a deal I'm getting. This country needs to take care of it's own before giving hand outs to others, was the point I was trying to make. Just didn't want there to be any misunderstanding.

I'm also retired military, retired in 91 after I got back from Desert Storm. A lot of the issue I see with the goverment today is that most of them never have served in the military, and have no idea what we went through. I spent over half of my 20+ years away from my family in remote locations, starting with Vietnam. I'm also disabled due to this military service and even though I can still work the government is taking away all of my health care benefits slowly, and making us pay more for what we do have. So far at least they haven't closed the VA clinic in our town, but that will probably be next. If I were of spanish decent then I wouldn't have to worry about all of this, it would be provided. Maybe we need to have a law that in order to run for federal office, you must have served this country in the military first on active duty, either through call up from the National Guard or Reserves, or on actual active duty. Maye then the politicians will have a better understanding of what it really means to serve one's country.
As far as the immigration issue goes, I'm tired of having to learn spanish so that I can get help from any federal office. This is the United States, not Mexico, or some Latin American country. A lot of us have served and are still serving in hostile area's for this country's freedoms. So if you want to live here then learn the language, I refuse to learn spanish to communicate with you. If I was in your country then it would be different, its called respect. When ever I was in a different country the onus was on me to learn the local language not the other way around.
Sorry it was long winded, this is issue hit a nerve.
Please take the time to write at least a letter or email to one of your elected officials. Tell them how you feel and what action you expect them to take. These elected officials love their jobs...they love the power. Once they realize their postions could be in jeopardy then they will begin to do the right thing...do their job. That job is protecting Americans and America.

[QUOTE=ranger3]Warbird is exactly right. Hard working Americans love to complain but few have ever written their congressmen or senators. That has to change very soon. Politicians at the federal level have gotten vey comfortable. They believe that they have lifetime tenure because their constituients rarely get involved. Just look at the turnout for elections! People won't even go vote.
