Arvid Swennes Olson

April 2, 1921 - August 5, 2005

Devoted husband for 56 years and loving father, WWII veteran aviator, aviation enthusiast (EAA member since 1967) and general all-around great guy (ask anyone at American Legion Post 595!) passed peacefully in his sleep from complications related to cancer.

Godspeed Dad!  Happy flying...!!!

Thanks for all the kind thoughts in the Norsky's Father thread.  I'll update this post as we finalize plans for his memorial service.

This gang is THE BEST...!!!

My Dad's memorial service has been scheduled for Friday, August 26th, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 21 Hill Street North, in La Crescent, MN.  Visitation will begin at 1:30 PM with the service beginning at 2:30 PM.  Burial with full military honors will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery, 1407 La Crosse Street, in La Crosse, WI.
 
Memorials are preferred designated for the following:
- Experimental Aircraft Association Young Eagles Program; or
- Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Music Fund; or
- Gittens-Leidel American Legion Post #595
 
Keep Dad in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks everyone!  My Dad LOVED to fly so of the three places we chose for memorials to go to I think the EAA's Young Eagles program would be his first choice.

Memorial gifts may be sent to the address below and simply designated, "in memory of Arvid Olson."  The gifts will be logged in his memory and designated for the Young Eagles program.  Each person sending in a memorial will receive a thank you from EAA.
