Is is just me, or does anyone else find it disturbing that on the day that we honor the soldiers that gave their lives for our country, a Japanese engine won the Indy 500? If I was the head of one of the American auto makers, I would be ashamed. Perhaps this is too contriversial of a subject, but deep down inside of us, wouldn't you rather see an AMERICAN engine win? It doesn't speak well for Detriot tech ability does it?

I dont know alot about indy car to know how many engines in the race were american, but I do feel that driver skill has a huge effect on the race outcome also. If you put the best engine ever in a indy car but it is driven by a bad driver it will not win.
According to what I read, there were 3 engine manufactures represented. Chevrolet, Honda and Toyota. I believe that there were only 2 Chevrolet engines in the race. I just think it's a shame that American equipment has to take a back seat to Japanese equipment.
Indy-type cars are so "international" anyway, technology along the same lines as F1. If we want to watch American equipment race, Nascar is our best bet, even then, Toyota already crept into the Craftsman Truch Series. I know what you mean, though, on the Memorial Day weekend....would be nice.
