Hey Professor, while your online...What's the recommended torquing of AN fittings. Hopefully not till they break. Is there a rule of thumb?

my rule of thumb (and this is just personal experience) is hand tight + 1/4 to 1/2 turn
when i saw the question i decided to do a little research.. there isnt any real definitive answer on this..
quite a few manufacturer sites say "get it tight but not too tight".... like that is any help..
I have sent an email to holley asking about this...
ill let you know what i find out

Hey Ben here is one I can't find. What type of oil do you use in a steering gear? In my Haynes manual it only give a GM part number. I took off the bolts on mine and couldn't see any oil and wanted to add a little.

the correct gear lube is gm part # 1052182, but I hear this has been discountinued. you may be able to get warehouse stock from your chevy dealer
i dont know the specs on it..
motor oil is too thin.. i generally use diff gear oil which is 90W but this is not "correct"... never had a problem with it though.

Look at you...pictures and everything. I have some 90W I will dump in. Just wasn't sure what was used. The gear is going away asap anyway.

Hey guys... we're getting a tad off the topic of this thread here.

Yeah, it has been a tad quiet around here.
