Topic: It just keeps gettin better... :-(

I'm really sorry to hear that Joel, not the best of news after a great holiday. If you do not mind the extra work why not start your own specialty Trans shop. In the mean time you can watch them be reduced to nothing and still be liable for the lawsuits. I went through the same thing quite a while back and all you have to do is keep your head up and it will all work out in the wash.

Been through what you're experiencing (in fact, I'm still going through it).
Loyalty and hard work count for exactly nothing in today's economic
climate. And any place that's managed so badly--read "stupidly"--that
they'd let you go, with your knowledge and your work ethic....well, it's not
any place you really want to be long term.
That's cold comfort, I know. But you've got professional skills that are
certainly worth a lot...you've got considerable experience under your
belt...and you've got something that younger people just can't compete
with--and that's the know-how you've built up over all these years.
Somebody, someplace, somewhere is going to take a look at that and if
they're smart, they'll understand just what someone like you can bring to
the business. And you'll be back building transmissions.
Kiss that wanna-be sweatshop off and watch 'em sink. That's what I did.
They cut their own throat letting the business-builders go, and they're
too dumb to realize their mistake before the place crashes and burns.
Take satisfaction in that--and don't forget: you've got what really
matters. Family, friends (including all of us here)....and yes, those
beautiful Corvettes.
You're a good person. And life will take care of you. Count on it.

Yes, actually I am an automotive transmission specialist.(which is a fancy way of saying, "I'm a trans builder!)

Sorry to hear this Joel, but ya, if they were getting themselves into lawsuits your prolly better off not involved.
Joel with your tallents I'm sure you will be back at it in no time, good luck. I'd let you put all your tools in my garage but I wouldn't know what to do with them

I know the voices aren't real, but they have some pretty cool ideas...

well like others have said it sucks, its wrong but on the bright side and there is one, you have had a good income for a long time, something others still only wish to have. you own tools, vettes, and have toys, and memories. but the one thing i thing we should look at is that while they are going to be up to there plumbers crack in crap, you are going to be on the outside lookin' in.
warped thinking but its all i got.

WOW.. Sorry about the job problem. To me it seems that is wrong on just looking for a worker to work more hours then the labor states in a week. My lady says 'Kiss of Death for the manager there'.
We hope you find a better job while on the road to success.

Joel,
I didn't get a chance to get online yesterday, so I just read the thread. I think it's the best thing that could ever have happened to you. With you knowledge and skills, you don't need to be working for someone else, you need to be working for JOEL.
Consider getting a SBA loan and start your own business. I'm willing to bet that in a year or so, you'll feel like sending your previous employer a Thank You card for letting you go.
GOOD LUCK buddy
