I may have to put the '85 'Vette up for adoption.
If something doesn't turn up soon...
It's a good "driver", but it does need some werk on it, if it was to be "perfect". I hate to even think of selling, but, Mama is having a hard time dealing with the stress...

I have been working at a shop for the last couple of weeks....until this morn.
I went in, and the owner confessed he really didn't need a full timer, just a part timer . So.......now I'm back to da drarwing board. I knew that job wasn't gonna werk out, but I was gonna hang in as long as I could.
I have offers from all over the country, but....I don't want to, nor can I afford to pull up stakes and move.
Somebody please shoot me...

Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.

Joel,

I'm thankful that I've never found myself in your situation, but while you're "back on the drawing board", you should consider filing for unemployment benefits. This isn't like a government "give away" program, it's money that your past employers have paid to the state and is there to help people like you until you can find another job.

With you experience and knowledge, i'm sure the right job will come along soon. Until then, hold your head up, your chest out, your shoulders back and get online and file for those benefits.

GOOD LUCK MY FRIEND

Jim, as much as I hated to do it, I did file today.

Joel, you worked (hard!)...you paid taxes...there is nothing wrong with
filing for unemployment benefits. Trust me--I speak from personal
experience that the government wastes more money than you can
possibly imagine. Getting some back at a time in your life when you really
need it, and your family can benefit from it, is not only the law of the
land, and perfectly OK to do--but frankly, you'd be a fool not to.

Want to know a terrible fact? The New York Times just reported a
frightening phenomenon: an incredibly high percentage of men in their
forties and fifties are finding out--to their horror--that there are no jobs
to be had when they become unemployed. I've long believed that from my
own anecdotal experience. But now it's documented fact. These millions
of guys don't show up in the (laughable) official unemployment statistics,
because they don't qualify to be counted (Catch 22, anyone?).

It makes me convinced that we're seeing the early signs of a new and
downright horrific change in our economic future. When healthy, skilled
American men in their prime are let go and are unable to locate new jobs
that pay anywhere near what they've earned before--or any jobs at all, for
that matter--then we have some pretty severe problems to address.

So don't feel embarrassed or anything else about filing for benefits.
