Today, they did a colonoscopy on my mother, and found.....nothing! They say that whatever that huge thing is, it is not growing on the inside of the colon. That sounded like a good thing to know. Then they decided to go in tommorrow, and do a needle biopsy on the growth. Then, just a few minutes ago, my brother called to tell us that they have now decided to go back in, cut her open, and get the biopsy THAT way. They also say they will put in a feeding tube, which she has already told them she did not want.
I have now gone the full gauntlet on this, from terror, to sorrow, to accepting the inevitable, to now being totally pied.
While these guys are messing around playing "who's got the tumor", my mother is in severe pain, unable to eat/move/sleep, and it's making my dad a nervous wreck on top of all that.
Please forgive my rant...

And thanks for all the support, and the flowers/cards. Youse guys, and gals, are the BEST.

Geez bro I had hoped today would be a day that answered some questions for you. Sounds like some of that was achieved but a portion of that has gone South for now.
I hope that Tuesday will bring good news for your family after all of the sorrow you have endured. Hang in there man, your strength can be encouragment to those who look to you during these tough times.
Your family continues to be in our prayers Joel.

Thanks for all the posts, calls, and messages...they do mean a lot

Today, the operated on my mother, supposedly to go in, and get a sample of the "thing" that is growing in there, and do a biopsy. They were going to do the testing while she was in the O.R., so they could make a decision on what to do next.

After four hours, they brought her out, and told us they had gone ahead and removed the growth, along with part of the colon, and...her gall bladder, that they had been telling us she did NOT have in the first place. They have been adamant about her having it removed in the past, and just "don't remember?" And these people went to college/medical school??

Anyway, she is back in ICU tonight, with a feeding tube, and on a respirator. They made all of us leave, so they could put her under so she wouldn't be in so much pain.
They STILL do not know what the "growth" actually is....

Hi Joel,  I'm so sorry to hear about her.  And all she's been through.  Like I always say, yeah, they went to years of med school at a cost of who knows what and they still "practice medicine".  Been there, know how you feel.  The best word that I could come up with was "helpless".  You have our support Joel.  Steve and I will say special prayers.

So, did they said they got all of it?  What happens next? Is she going to recover since they took it out?
