My first Vette, now owned by JB79:

I'd like to have one, but I'm too scared. I was only on one once. My friend got a new Triumph Sprint ST and took me for a ride. That will be the last time I will ever ride on the back of a motorcycle, and its probably his fault. He showed me what it had for sure and afterwards I thought it was cool, but during I thought I was going to die. We were at a stop light with cars on each side and when it turned green we were at 100mph in the blink of an eye and I couldn't even see the cars anymore. I think it would be fun to have one, but I wouldn't go that fast on it.

My first set of motorized wheels was a Bridgestone 175 Sport Twin. Got rid of it a few years later after picking a used '68 Chevelle. Haven't owned another bike since then, but have driven several different types over the years. They're definitely a lot of fun, but you really have to be driving for a lot of other folks when you're in traffic be cause most people don't even see you. I've kept my motorcycle endorsement on my license current 'cause I never know when a friend (who has 2 Harley Springer Softtails) will call and say "The bikes need some exercise, let's go for a ride!". Tried another friend's "bonzi-bomber" once and scared myself silly - waaaayyyyy tooo much power for that light a bike.
Had thoughts about getting a Harley a couple of years ago, but then saw a herd of folks heading west for Sturgis in a driving rain and they looked totally miserable. Figured then a vehicle with doors, windows, and a top (when you need it) would be more acceptable to my bride so decided that was a better way to go. Hence, "The Toy".

Nope...but Hubby HAS been giving ALOT of thought to getting a Harley the past year or so...
BUT.....well we kinda made a deal..Once we get ''Rosie'' to an accepted appearance...THEN he can start really LOOKING for one!....
..I told him I would ''ride'' but it HAS to be in comfort!!
..arm rests..padded back rest....ya know..kinda like a lazy-boy chair on the back!! If I ain't ''driving'' I want COMFORT!!!!!!
He has owned a couple over the years..still has his Bike endorsement.....Guess maybe I will have to go get mine IF he does buy a Harley..Can you see me ..taking one for my driving/road test!?

I love riding my Harley. Almost feels like driving the vette with the tops out, OK, well maybe not
As far as riding to Sturgis in the rain, WTF? That's just plain crazy. I drive mine like I drive the vette, nice sunny days with not a chance of rain. It takes too long to clean up all of the chrome. I got caught in a shower once and it took me 4 hours to clean it. I vowed I would never do that again

Well, hate to put a damper on the discussion but.... My Brother in Law (49 years old) has been riding for decades. He used to race back in his 20s. Till a few weeks ago his Sunday ritual was canyon riding in southern california. He was always really anal about safety equipment, new helmet every 2 years, wore full leathers & gloves even in the heat of summer etc. He was always considered an excellent rider by all his buddies. But 2 weeks ago he got in an accident on Sunday AM. The 2 guys he was with were behind him, and all they saw was him flying through the air, and off the cliff.
He sustained massive head injuries and was med-evac'd to the local hospital. He slipped into a coma and died 2 days later from severe brain injuries. :( My husband, his only sibling, 2 years younger than Jeff, is still devastated by the accident. His friends still can't believe it happened to Jeff. They haven't found what happened, but they're guessing gravel or something which made it slide, and then it hooked back up and tossed him, or else a stick in the road, just the right size under the front wheel to pitch him off. :( Our consolation is that he just absolutely LOVED to ride. It was what he lived for. And he always said, while you're alive LIVE. At least he died doing what he loved most.
