Hey guys I had my eyes done over 4 years ago in Canada. The only thing that you have to worry about is that you will need reading glasses earlier than you should. I was told this before I had it done and it's true. My eyes are still perfect for long distance but the reading is really going down hill. At least now there is a treatment for that. I'm checking into that now but can't find anyone who has had it done. It's something to do with radio waves and the cost is about the same 2 to 2500. If anyone knows anyone who had it please let me know.

I went for my follow up today and my vision is 20/20
. The doctor said things will sharpen up as time goes on and the eyes heal up. I still reach for my glasses in the morning like a dummy. LOL. I go back in a month for the next follow up. I'll give an update then.
vettman, I think that the guy that did my correction does something with the reading glasses issue. I think they called the procedure "CK". If you want, I can ask if it's the radio wave thing you were talking about.

Found this thread deep in the furthest reaches of this site and thought I'd add my .02 cents. I think it's Road & Track mag that used to do a feature road testing vehicles well past their new stage, in other words, with a few thousand miles. I had a Radial Keratotomy (the precursor to Lasik) in the early 80's. It was relatively new then so I went in with some doubt as to how effective it would be. I gotta say it was the best $$ I ever spent and the new procedure is even better. The most annoying part was the "starburst effect" at night (cleared up in a year) but it was great not fumbling for glasses to see the alarm clock. I got it in my late 20's and went a long time before needing glasses again (now for reading). Good luck with yours...well worth the expense.

Wow! You did dig deep for this thread JR. I almost completely forgot about this one. That's cool that your still happy with your results til this day.
Update on my eyes while were in the subject.
I still have slight difficulties seeing at night. But way better than it was. I did do a stupid thing awhile back. I wasn't wearing my safety glasses while working on a car. I was tapping a bolt "lightly" with a hammer and a sharp piece of metal chipped off and put a 1.5mm cut in my cornea. Very painful and scared the hell out of me. Everything was cloudy. I thought for sure that I scewed up big time. Thank god the doctors did a good job on fixing it up. Still not as sharp as the other eye, but it is improving. I will never get that complacent again.

Boy, it's big, ain't it....That "cone of probability" isn't looking too promising either.

My brother had that done several years ago, and loves it. I have progressive bifocals just recently, and hate them. I think I would have preffered the standard no line bifocal. Perhaps someday, I can have the lasik. But that at least a few years away, budget wise. I need to fix my car first.

That's scary, Bossman, after all you've been thru with the surgery. Thank God it didn't lodge itself in there. Gotta protect your investment.
