Allow me to get deep for a moment...
I don't think I ever really knew what "Love" was until my son was born. What's more interesting, is that my love for him continues to grow every day. I'm still not sure how to define "Love", but I know that I have it with him! I know I'd take a bullet for him, I can tell you that much!!
Now, don't get me wrong, I Love my wife, too... but it is totally different. I think my love for my son is stronger than that for my wife. Is that wrong? Does that make me a bad person?
(FYI, for those of you that don't know... my son is young, will be 3 in a few months.)

My guess is that you are normal, not a bad person? It's the parental instinct. I have four young ones, I have the same feelings. Not just for boys, girls too. The love for your wife you feel is not as strong? Not so, When the time comes the love for your wife is just as strong, as you said it is a different love, yes, between two commited adults. Why are your thinking of this? Is there a problem??...Father Terry answers all from the north country..
P.S. Adam, It's time to have another child..It's the father instinct you are showing..

Having been divorced for quite some time, a statement like your's rings very true for me. This may sound a bit bitter, I'm really not, but I found out that a relationship with a wife can be and often is temporary.
The "Death do us part" in my life has been my sons. They will love me and I them unconditionally for as long as we all live!
Take a bullet? Undoubtedly, on both sides!
Now if you want to take that love to another level, just wait until you hold your newborn grandchildren!

Even tho I'm sure you would, may you NEVER have to take that bullet. For either of them.
Bad person? I don't think so.

I can't say I love may kids more than my wife. But I can't say I love my wife more than my kids. It's different, and very powerfull. I would never trade either, or put them second to anyone or anything.
Adam, sounds like you will do just fine with the honored title "Daddy"

Just wait till your son turn into a "Teenager." Now, that's a different story!

don't go to deep in it Adam, it's normal , live it ! I think it's nature : your wife is a adult person , while your son needs that love and care from both to become a teenager.... and you some grey hairs !
My son is now 28 and daughter 23 so i had them very young and never thought in that way , beeing hole days very busy with work. I cared for them but at a distance .Now having a grandchild ( daughter of my son ) , indeed daveb12 , it's another level ! I think it comes with age and now i have more time and , yes, "love" for her than with my own children ! She's now 9 months and directly i had the feeling that she was the "last" generation i could see grow up, care for and learn things ...I hope to reach a "healty" 70 to see her become 20 .. perhaps i want to make good with her what i missed with my children ... time !

No problem. Just notice how much I love my kid, and wanted to share my thoughts with my C3VR family. That's all.
