Tumarr said: I do agree with Ben, we do need more voting choices. I am tired of voting against someone that is slightly more revolting to me than the other. The democrats and republicans have done an exellent job of giving you few choices. |
no decent person can get a major party nomination.. and people wonder why voter apathy increases every year.
in a winner take all state (47 of 50) upto 49.99% of voters are disenfranchised anyway.
personally I see little difference in the two candidates.. both have made outrageous claims about reducing the deficit while promising all sorts of new spending.
one wants to tax-cut and spend
the other wants to tax and spend
both of them are dirty, both are beholden to special interests (according to "The Buying of the Presidency 2004" they even share some)
I cannot vote for Bush as he is strongly against choice.. and if it hadnt been for choice years ago I wouldnt be where I am today. I cannot vote for Kerry as he is an empty shell, he stands for nothing. Even quite a few people who are voting for Kerry acknowledge they arent voting for him as much as they are voting against Bush.

Ill vote third party as I have all of my adult life. Perot in 92/96 Nader in 00 and probably liberatarian in 04
does anyone find it odd that the one thing the republicrooks and demogogues can actually agree and cooperate on is stifling third party politics??

Time for me to chime in....
I never liked Bush to begin with (him nor his father), i can say that during the 8 years that Clinton was in office you were hard pressed to walk more than 10 feet without tripping over a help wanted sign, and to further that i am pretty certain that Bush (and his baby brother) stole the 2000 elections (yes i live in florida so i can say that). Now this isn't to say that i am a fan of Kerry but i do believe he is the lesser of the two evils. Also i never backed the war with Iraq as i think it was just a case of who's d**k was bigger (did anyone see the nice plaque that Bush received with Saddam's guns on it? there is proof right there). However i do now and forever will stand behind our troops, yes it is their "job" however they are american citizens (my brothers and sisters) that are put into harms way by someone else. My opinon doesn't matter than much anyhow just ask the electorial college.
My $.02
Tom
PS. back to the vettes... i got my 69 427/435 fired up yesterday after 2 months of it sitting (remember i was putting the tri-power gimmick back on it), it was a WONDERFUL sound :) Now i need to get it towed to my friend's shop so he can dial it in.... i'll post some pics (in a different thread) sometime in the next week.
PSS. I agree with you cthulhu, i would vote Nader this year however i just don't see him making it :(

I'm glad Bush was in office during 9-11 instead of Makarana Al Gore. I think Clinton made a mockery and embarrased the White House and our political system.
I can honestly say its one thing to have done things in your past that may come up and embarrass you sometime in the future. After all, we're all Human and we all make mistakes. Its another to make A$$ of yourself once your in office with scandal after scandal. Bush has never once skated the issue of what his goals were when it comes to terrorism. Simply take them out, hunt them down, what ever it takes, search around the world to keep us safe and make the world safer.
We went into to iraq for many reasons, weapons, political freedom, taking out a lunatic, a country capable of harboring terrorists, uncalled for massacres, among other reasons. You can only expect that people are going to die for any cause. The fact of it is there has to be a leader in the world, someone that is going to step up and say we're tired of it. We're tired of Terrorists and tyrants that push their will and beliefs on to unsuspecting people.
Its no different then the school yard bully except the stakes are higher. Lord knows no other country will do it and if it continues next thing you know you start living your life with less and less freedom.
Those that protest the war cannot know what its like to live a life with nothing and be in constant terror for their life. I believe they would change their mind if they had to live a year in a country where you live in fear. If this war had been on our soil then you better believe they would be for it.
One thing I know is god gave us the ability to have free will. That means the ability to make our own decisions and act on them. Our soldiers, they made that free will decision to join and serve our nation.

CFL34,Sorry I missed your point. Did you want a private tour of the gravesite formally known as the WTC? Or did I offend your heritage in some way?
My SON is in the service our great country. He is well aware of the responsibily to his country and yes even to those of you that belive he has is doing something that shouldnt be done. Fact is he has the balls that the Kerry followers are lacking right now. Take the fight to the enemy or it will come here.
Thank my son for defending you even though you may not belive that he doing the right thing and thank me for raising him with the courage and morality to do what is right for us all.
Its funny but anytime I mention that I have a son in the miltary the anti-war wimps quickly shy away from me, out of embarassment I guess.
Bush in 04, Jeb Bush in 08 and 12

Here's to you and your son

Thanks Man, I was actually half through writing my son (Matt) a letter when I decided to take a break for a few minutes and catch up on C3 news and came across this thread. The more I miss him the quicker I am to anger when I read some of this stuff.
My last comments then I shut up.
A liberatrian vote is a vote for Kerry.
Any friend of Hanoi Jane is an enemy of mine, she is responsible for far more deaths than Bin Laden.
Bush did not "steal" the election in Florida, he won it in 30 states.

I pray that your son is well. Thank him from the bottom of my heart.

my last 2 cents on this issue. Your son is a hero in my book and you should be proud of him as I'm sure you are. as for CFL34, you can call your friends anything you want but military people have a bond that you'll never know anything about, that's why we can call ourselves brothers and sisters. We live together fight together and sometimes die together. As for you people that will vote for Kerry without thought, please check out this site and think about what these people have to say. I especially ask you to go to the 3rd paragraph and click on the words open letter don't listen to me, hear what the main stream media will not tell you about this man.http://www.wintersoldier.com As for Suddam and Iraq, this man surrendered, put up the white flag,REMEMBER, was told to disarm REMEMBER, HE DIDN'T, HE THREW THE INSPECTORS OUT OF HIS COUNTRY AND WOULD NOT COOPERATE. AND BILL CLINTON DID NOTHING. For 8 years. Then 9/11 we went into Afghanistan where the terrorists were and the President stood tall and told Saddam to disarm, he defied us and the world again. Let me put in other words. If I'm on the battle field and I come upon the enemy and I tell them to drop there weapons and they don't.(a) open fire (b) do nothing and try to be there friend.
time for a brewsky.CTHULHU for president.
