Vette(s): 1977 L-82 originally white/buckskin interior. Currently undergoing a frame-off resto. and modifications.YEEHAW!!!
Charlie...My other car is a 1980 Chevy Caprice, 2-door. Silver, with a black landau roof. I bought rallye wheels for it at Carlisle last year. I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!!!
I bought it two years ago for $500.00. When it was towed to my driveway, my wife wouldn't talk to me for a whole week.---(I'll digress from the obvious comment now) but it was a really quiet week. HAHAHAHAHA
I went through her, replaced all the wear-and-tear items, changed the oil, tune up, new battery, rebuilt the Q-jet, and she started right up. Now, she still purrs like a kitten, rides like a Cadillac, fits my whole family in the car, has more storage space in the trunk than my wife's Pathfinder, and I get offers for it all the time from old Chevy lovers.
With the new paint, and top on it, the rallye wheels seemed to be the perfect combination for that car.
If I ever get in an accident with her, I am confident I will crush any of those styrofoam plastic wonders they're passing off as bumpers these days, and I feel safe with my 2 year old son in the car. The enging is a 305, with the stock "old lady" camsshaft in it, and that's the way it's going to stay.
This is the sensible car, not expensive, and I don't have 400 horses of pure devil tempting me like my vette does. Like I said, I LOVE THIS CAR!!!
So good luck with the Chevelle, make it cool, and remind the wife of the times that car came in handy, like back in the day when we all went to the drive-ins.
Would you give us all a picture when you're done with it? I haven't seen a car like that in ages.
Thanks for letting me rant.

Vette(s): SOLD - "The Toy" - '70 Convertible
SOLD - "The Beast" - '90 ZR-1 (#682)
SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
SOLD - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am
"BLUBYU" - '04 Coupe
There's a late 60s 'plain Jane' Chevelle wagon that shows up occasionally at the local drive-in on Thursday nights during the summer. The only chrome on the exterior is the bumpers, door handles, and radio antenna. A non-descript beige paint job on it as well. At first glance you just go "Neat - Grandma's hauler". |ohwell|

A closer look reveals rally wheels (with some REALLY fat rear tires) and a couple of bazookaas hanging below the rear bumper. It is amazingly quiet at idle, but when he pulls out to head home and floors it you'd think John Force just left the line! |eek|

I'm definitely going to get a closer look at that beast this warm season.

Thanks for all the positive feedback. I'm sure my wife will like the car once it is done. I do have a picture in my personal file folder but I cant figure out how to post it.

Watching American Hot Rod last night Boyd Coddingham was at one of the big rod shows out west handing out his Boyd's Picks awards. One of his picks was to I believe a Chevelle(or could have been fullsize Chevy, was distracted at the time) station wagon. 2000 cars and only 16 awards. Nuff said! Mike
