Just to update. I finally got my truck working again. Actually I didn't, but the shop did. I figured it was time to take it there after I bought a new battery, (I did go with the Sears Die Hold Gold), and it still didn't work. After three hours the mech finally found a clip that had fallen out from behind the gauge panel. And yes, that was my fault. I had replaced a light bulb the day before and I guess the clip didn't go in all the way because I remember hitting a bump then a couple minutes later I noticed the charging system was shot. So a $1 light bulb cost me much more than I had which was designated to be my new front clip for my vette. I wasn't very happy with myself, but what's done is done. I needed some new parts anyway.
