I heard on the news that Oklahoma is at a state of emergency due to heavy snow and sleet.
How are all my "Okie Pals?"
Are you all ok?????

We're doin' OK so far. My in-laws are in the NE part of the state and have no power and likely won't for up to 30 days or so. VERY Rural. Also, the place I haul hay in the summer for vacation took a very hard ice hit and lost a bunch of trees. We'll be cutting trees as well as hauling hay this summer! Same power issue for them.
I saw 71Shark tonight and they are doing well other than twins with colds and he sounds like he is coming down with it as well.
The nice thing about the sleet/ice is that, if it doesn't break your trees and power lines, it is a nice slow melt that will fill the aquifers and the farm ponds. I checked my pond Saturday and it was back up quite a bit. We are down about 4 feet in rain over the past 5 years or so. Been quite a drought so any moisture is somewhat welcome.
They showed on the news today that the linemen are having problems. The had run about 2 miles of new wire and the strain on the part they hadn't gotten to, accompanied by the 20+mph winds today pulled it all back down and snapped a bunch of poles. Nasty stuff.
Did it hit you guys in the metroplex?
I need to call a buddy of mine in San Antonio. I see where the storms are now running from San Antonio to Houston and thru Shreveport.
Gotta love Ma Nature

Well, we got down to a pipe bustin' 8 degrees here last nite and we're headed for 4 tonight.
Of course, that's nothin' compared to what I saw for ND on Sunday, they were WELL below ZERO

Man, I'm glad you all are ok!!
I saw you postin', so I knew you were alive, but didn't see any post from '71. Talked to my Okie Pal in Tulsa and she's iced/snowed in. Can't get out of her driveway. I was gonna go up Thursday for her birthday and bring the rest of her furniture to her in the Van. She said south of her (to me it's north) it was pretty bad and she didn't think I could get through.
I guess I will have to wait till next week.
What happened there?? I wonder if it will be cleared by next week.....huuuuummmmmm.

Not bad here. We had a little ice on the roads Monday, but that's all..........

Talked to my son in Lawton tonight. They DIDN'T close Ft Sill, even though the area (the state) has been declared a catastyrophe (or however you spell it) area. A block from home, he turned a corner down a small hill and - guess what - there was a truck and trailer stalled in his lane. Turned the wheel and NOTHING. Slid right into the back of the trailer and tore up all the "crumple zone" stuff - bumper, fenders, hood, grill, etc. And ... he's only had the 2006 Nissan Frontier truck since May (bought it while home on R&R from Iraq). The insruance company said that the "catastyrophe" declaration will help him. Boy ... is he pissed!! He's fine, thank goodness.

Micki;
It was snowing a bit here again today. I work with a guy who drives in from T-Town and stays in the city all week. He was finally able to make it in today and says that on the Turnpike it is fine till Sapulpa, after that, it is a solid sheet of ice.
We are expecting up to 11" more snow (depending on who you listen to) by Sunday nite next. This on top of our ice and Tulsa's 5+ inches. The guy in our office said that he had 6+ inches of snow up against his garage door.
I'd be careful heading up that way before the weekend of the 27th at least.
If ya come this way, let us know and we'll meet ya for dinner if ya have time.
