I pulled money from my 401K program to finance "The Toy". Right after I did that the bottom fell out of the market for awhile (hopefully no connection!
) so I didn't lose as much money. Plus "The Toy" has appreciated a little so I'm ahead of the game abit.
Went to my credit union in Ocotber to finance the bride's '78 Trans AM. All they wanted was a copy of the bill of sale and the mechanic's inspection report.

yeah i concur on this.. i bought my celica with my equity line..
but i would bet that as a SPC that you relocate too often to own a home..
as for avoiding credit cards.. they really arent dangerous.. they just take self control. and if you use them right they build credit very well..
I have a card I applied for in college (13 yrs ago) and kept current.. they have upgraded the interest rate and limit quite a few times.. before i refi'd my house.. the interest (5.9 Fixed) was better than my mortgage (6.375) and the limit was high enough to pay it off..
nothing wrong with credit cards if you excercise self control..

Capital One Auto Finance turned me down twice...once individually, and once with my co-signer. I don't like them anymore. Anyhow I got the loan today, and now all I need is to solve my little guarantee problem. See the thread I just made.

SPC,
Are you able to take a loan on your pension?
My pension offers loans @ 4% which come directly out of my paycheck.
Wife was thrilled with this........
Good luck,
Anthony
