AVG runs automatically every evening...I run Ad-Aware(SE Plus and Personal) at least once a day. Spy-Subtract at least once a day.
I give up....

Otay...just to sorta close this one up...I did go with Moziller Firefox, and the difference is amazing! I did this a few months ago, and so far, so good. No tracking cookie, registry modifications, horsies...NADA with Firefox.

I keep hearing that IE has been so compromised, it's ridiculous. I have to concur. I am now using AVG 7.5, AVG Anti-Spyware, Ad-Aware Plus SE, Ad-Aware Personal, Spy Subtract, MS Windows Defender, and some other MS Windows program to protect "my precious..."
Downside is...it takes a long time to run all of them, one at a time! AVG runs automatically, as does Defender, but I set them for different times.
Thanx for all the help. Others will come axing...

btw...my issue with the slow post response has apparently gone away with the 'Ziller FireFox. IE SUX! Adams' Apple2007-01-22 21:17:34

AVG and the other anti-spy things are good stuff.

I also hear good things about Firefox but never tried it myself.

I have been using Avant Browser for the past 2 years.  It relies on IE, but has a much better (faster) interface with all the goodies; tabs; blockers; mouse gesture; all cookies, search, history, temp files, you name it eraser...

With these things in place as well as windows update automatic (assuming you have a ligit copy), you can now rest in peace.  I am also running all of those and I haven't had any problems in a very long time (knock on wood).

Just like cars, computers are a now an "almost" necessary tool that needs some maintenance to keep them happy.  Glad to hear you're all caught up!
