Couldn't get to see him after the surgery. They don't really want him to get excited or anything. Told me all the girls are fussing over him. Hopefully I can bring him home tomorrow.
Looking forward to giving the doctor some hell, too!
Keep thinking maybe the hip was the real problem now and the knee caps were a lesser problem, maybe not even needing surgery. But maybe it's an improvement for the long run.
Can't wait to get him back home.

mike,
glad to hear that the pup came thru. my prayers are being said as we speak for the little one. i don't know if getting mad at the hip will do any good. if the knees were bad, they most likely had to be done anyway and maybe they could not have done both at the same time and did the most important first.
go and give the little guy all the love you can and it will all work out in the end. even my cat goofy is saying her prayers for him as i type this.

Sure hope all is well with the little one, and hope dad is getting back to normal.

Hey guys, been pretty busy the last week. Looking after Mickey is like watching a toddler! Get's into things he's not supposed to, yet!
Came home last Thursday. 2" incisions in each of his rear legs. pretty mopey as he had a morphine patch on his back. Was able to walk around a little the first day but that patch really wiped him out. Getting around better and better now. Still carries his left leg in the air, tho. Hip surgery is to take place in 4-6 weeks, before he's 100% from the knee work. Vet feels it's best to get it done as quick as possible. The hospital is picking up the cost of the hip(thank god!) as the doc admitted she screwed up and should have done that surgery with the knees or even first, doing the knees at a later time.
Looks like a cross between a Yorky and a Mexican hairless.
Full time job watching him as he wants do stairs and whatever else he can. Turn your back and he's down the dog steps by the couch. Look away and he's out the doggie door and down the deck steps with the other guys. Blink and he's poised to jump off the chair he was sound asleep on.
Tomorrow I start a 5 day job. He'll spend the day boarded at his regular vet. Friday, too. I'll work the weekend cause mama's home to babysit. Actually looking forward to the rest.
I did see the xrays and his left hip ball looks like a meatball! Other side smooth as ever. The knees were definitely bad, too. The caps were positioned way off to the inside, both legs. Guess it's best they got fixed.
Mickey it seems wants to run with the rest of the guys. It sounds like he is feeling pretty good. I hope that he gets better everyday, and pulls thru the next surgery. He might be small but HE'S A TOUGH GUY!

Glad to hear the Tough Guy is doing well. Equally as glad to hear dad is keeping a close eye on him. It sounds like the kid at heart could get him in trouble if there was nobody watching over him.
