Vette(s): 1974 Roadster being restored now!

After I'm done restoring the 74, I have another fun project of restoring my garage! All those oil, fuel, additive, sweat, blood stains really make that garage floor look disgusting. Any suggestions on how to go about doing this? I'm thinking renting a pressure washer, treating the floor with something (suggestions?) and then washing it out and then painting on a layer of some sort of sealant (suggestions?).

Should be fun!

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.
Imran,

I used a pressure washer to clean my patio, and it worked great. You might try soaking it first with detergent, soap, simple green, or even mean green, to loosen the oil, grease. There is a gas station close by my house, that uses a pressure washer about once every two weeks, and his concrete looks like new... That pressure washer will do the job...|thumb| |thumb| |thumb|

Glen,

The pressure washer is a must, I realize that already, but thanks for letting me know what type of detergent I should be using. Anyone know of anything first hand that worked for them? Also need to find a sealer for the garage... but that's all after I'm done having fun with the vette...

Take care

I have read somewhere that if you spray the oil and grease areas with WD40 first, it will cut right thru the grease and oil. then with a little cleaner, your floor will look like new. I havent tried it yet, but plan on it. |wavey|

Pressure washer.....YES!!! Believe it or not, when i was getting ready to do mine, I used straight Simple Green and let it soak. then I hit it with the pressure washer, did it twice and you can hardly tell there was anything there. I used a petroleum based sealer, which you can get at any cont=ractors supply house, to seal the floor. It is not paint, but looks like stain. I chose a dark grey which also hides any residue. Oil, grease, etc, wipes right up with little or no residue.

After you get it cleaned, contact a local cement finisher and talk to him ( her) about getting the floor sealed. With a good sealer on it, you won't be worrying about a power wash again. I got two coats on my floor ( 24x40 ) for under $250.00. It is a nice hard, smooth finish that oil and grime won't stick to.
