RETARDED GRANDPARENTS
(this was actually reported by a teacher)

After Christmas, a teacher asked her young pupils how they spent their holiday away from school. One child wrote the following:

We always used to spend the holidays with Grandma and Grandpa. They used to live in a big brick house but Grandpa got retarded and they moved to Florida.

Now they live in a tin box and have rocks painted green to look
like grass. They ride around on their bicycles and wear name tags because they don't know who they are anymore.

They go to a building called a wrecked center, but they must have got it fixed because it is all okay now, and do exercises there, but they don't do them very well.

There is a swimming pool too, but in it, they all jump up and down with hats on.

At their gate, there is a doll house with a little old man sitting in it. He watches all day so nobody can escape. Sometimes they sneak out.

They go cruising in their golf carts!

Nobody there cooks, they just eat out. And, they eat the same thing
every night --- early birds.

Some of the people can't get out past the man in the doll house. The
ones who do get out, bring food back to the wrecked center for pot luck.

My Grandma says that Grandpa worked all his life to earn his retardment and says I should work hard so I can be retarded someday too.

When I earn my retardment, I want to be the man in the doll house. Then I will let people out so they can visit their grandchildren.

Vette(s): had a really nice one. sold it to a good friend. Purchased 2004 custom coupe in Feb. 2009 did not tell anyone here until August 2009. BAD I KNOW.
very cute, an i am just going to say this and hope it comes out okay. I am in no means offended by the story or the use of the word retard, and i know that it was used in the context in which the story was wrote, just as some people get offended by cursing or slang names, people who are or have loved ones with disabilites find that word very offensive.  I want to relay that simply for futher references, I am not that sensative of a person (my wife is that for the both of us) it is just when you live it for so long it is just a part of you the share who others might feel. PLEASE KNOW that I AM NOT UPSET with the story (it is cute) or with any member of the site. thank you for letting me vent.

It's healthy to vent, Larry! Wink  I know what you mean.  I was raised by my father, who had a disability.  I used to watch people stare at him like he was "different" especially when the family went swimming.  Well, to me he was "normal."  Men that had 2 legs were strange.......my father had 1 - 1/2 legs.  I used to beg my Mother to take my leg off before I went to bed, cuz my father could.  One of the guy's my dad worked with used to send him post cards address to "Peg Leg."  I don't think he liked that one to well.
