That's right...you heard me!
I finally got back into the world of two wheelers! And NO training wheels!
I been thinking aboot getting a bike for a couple of weeks, due largely to the outrageous fuel costs...diesel is $4.50 & up around here(as of 5-18)
It's costing me $70 a week just to get to werk and back.
Anyway, I started looking for a Goldwing(Honda) that was affordable, and in good enough shape to ride last week...Wednesday to be exact. Found one in Austin for a good price, but it was sold before I could get ahold of them.
Anyway, I showed Mama(the banker
) pics of it, and 'splained how much it would save me in fuel, and she said, "We can look around here for one"!! Wow...no discussion/arguments, nuthin! Yippie!
We got a Sunday paper(early edition) Saturday, and she looks thru it, and says, "Here's one". I calls the guy, and he tells me about it, what work it's had done, how the paint is, yadda yada. We set up a meeting to check it out Sunday morn. Off we go around 10am. Get there look it over, take it for a spin, have a little discussion, get him to knock a couple hun off the price, and the deal is made!
So...now there is another vehicle keepin the "Apple" company in da garage! I had to do some emergency "cleaning" to get enough space to park it in there, but it's there!
The guy is supposed to have the title stuff done today(5-19), and I still need to get a MC driver's license, but looks like I'll be riding before long! Woo-Hoo! $20 a week for gas instead of $70!!! Cain't beat that! It'll pay for itself just this summer!
It's been over 20 years since I last owned a bike...gonna take some gettin used to, but it'll be fun!
Here's some pics of it after I got it home yesterday. Ain't cleaned/detailed it yet, and the red, lighted "Skull Heads" have got to go, but I like it. It rides great...nice and smoooooth!

You said "scooter"I thought you was talkin bout a "VESPA"
,the last time I was down to Jacksonville Fla. my buddy borrowed a friends Harly for me to ride when I was there,we went all over the place,it had been almost 25 years since I was on a bike,it took a couple of hours to get used to it again.luckily I never had the M.C. license taken off of my C.D.L.,you just be careful out there on that thing, people just don't see you

Good for you my friend!! Its great seeing you all stoked up with a new toy. Been a biker of and on myself, and the way gas prices are it may happen again.

I ride frequently Joel and I am glad you found what you were looking for. Just be careful. Traffic is much worse than it was twenty years ago and most drivers are not looking for bikes. I encourage you to wear a helmet. They are not required here for riders over 21, but I always wear one. I taken some bad falls racing bikes and contrary to popular belief, you cannot keep your head from hitting something hard. Good gas mileage means nothing if you aren't here to enjoy it. Be safe!

I am with Scott ,100% on the helmet deal,I had a car pull in front of me and stop dead,I couldn't stop ,hit him and went over the top of the car,the first thing to touch the ground on the other side was my helmet. It cracked ,my head didn't,in my opinion, anybody that doesn't wear a helmet, needs psychiatric attention

As far as the garage goes, It's not called "cleaning" if you just move stuff from one spot to another spot that's already taken by other stuff.
That bike looks more roomy than a C3.
Enjoy but be careful. My sister lives in Mckinley and says it's a complete rat race on the roads down there.

Makes sense on the gas mileage. A friend of mine parked his diesel pickup a few years ago in favor of a Kawasaki somethingorother that goes 100 miles on a three gallon tank. Just be careful of getting into the motorcycle hobby tho. My friend I think goes overboard accessorizing. Must be a hundred different exhaust pipes to fit his bike and I think he's got a different one for every month of the year.

That's why I wanted a dresser, Phil!
Someone else has already spent the $$$!
As far as helmet head, I will be wearing a cranial coffin...much as I HATE the idea. Back in the day when I rode every day, and there were no laws about them, I never wore one. Around here, tho...it would just be silly NOT to. I did get one with the bike, but I don't like it at all...too big, and I can't see to the sides. I'll be looking for a smaller one tho.
Jeff, it is TOO cleaning if you sweep da floor after moving stuff around!
Btw...Kerry and Janis(reds82ce) also live in McKinney.
Luckily for me, my commute to/from work is straight down I-20...east in da morn, and west in the eve....not too much traffic for me on that route. The only real issue is the sun!
Believe me...I've been in the Dallas area for 20+ years now...I'm aware of the ding-bats out there...
