Sometimes your the fire hydrant, some times your the dog. I guess it's my turn to be the fire hydrant. I don't know if any of you good folks have heard about the Guidant Pacemaker situation. I came home one night and turned on the tv, and there was a advertisment from Jacoby and Myers law firm for a class action suit against Guidant Corp. It seems that five of the pacemaker models they make have defects. Yep, I gots one. Just a great way to find out about it too. A law suit ad on tv, not a call from my cardio doc or Guidant, but a tv ad. Since I've had it implanted, my life has been better, I am a member of a gym, and workout with cardio machines and weights. It got my heart in time like it should be. I had to retire from firefighting, that hurt a VERY MUCH, but now after two years I have to get another operation to replace it. You know how it is, if it's made by us mortals, it can go wrong. I guess it falls into the grin and bear it catagory.

Keep your chin up, Dave.  At least you found out about it before it failed.  It is pretty bad when the doctors and companies are so worried about liability lawsuits that they won't do the right thing and notify you themselves.  Guess that's the world we live in today.  Anyway, good luck and I know it will all work out for the best.

"Grin & bear it"??!!
Dave, you got a lot better outlook on the situation than I would, my friend! I guess, tho, there's something to be said about people like yourself that can deal with crap like that and not go completely bonkers!
It's good that you've done Ok with the p-maker since you've had it, and it's made you're life better. Hopefully, things will still be good afterward; it's just a shame that you found out that way, and now you have to start over with anouther surgery.
Best wishes to you, and let us know if we can help in any way.

Vette(s): had a really nice one. sold it to a good friend. Purchased 2004 custom coupe in Feb. 2009 did not tell anyone here until August 2009. BAD I KNOW.

sorry to hear about the faulty life line and the inpending surgery.  It is at times lije this when it makes me take a long look at just how backwards some of our thinking is in this world.  It also opens my eyes to the world that my daughter lives in with her celebrel pasly, not being able to speak and have a choice in the decesions of her life, and not being able to walk must be a challenge every day, even if she isn't mentally aware of it.  She is 21 and has had, if I am correct, 12 sugery's, thank God none life threating but none the less, and she will have to have a new bacoflen inseted into her tiny body every five years or so, and she never had a voice to make these choices for her.  Only reason I am sharing this is in no means to make light of your situtation, just to hopefully give your eyes a new way of looking at tomorrow, Businesses and leaders don't always do what is right, that has been proven time and again, but when we have the chance to make a choice and use our voice for ourselves or for those that can't then will we do the right thing.  Sorry if this is a little preachy, just from my heart and you are all family so I felt safe in sharing, thanks and PUMPS, everything is going to be just fine.

Thanks all for the good words. It's appreciated. I know that I've been given good health most of my life and can't imagine a situation like your daughter's Larry. My thoughts are with you. As for me, I just take it one day at a time, and as the old saying goes, if I though I was going to live this long, would have taken better care of myself. I just hope they don't have to change the leads again, that means not being able to lift my arms over my head for 8-10 weeks. Makes it hard to put deoderant on and wifey complains.

thanks for the kind words, wasn't lookin for any, she is great, healthy, happy, and loving, and she'll never ask to drive the vette.  As far as the leads, man I hope they don't have to do that either, but maybe you could start working on the wife to allow a hooter girl student nurse to help you out, for your wifes sake....

It's amazing what happens to all of us.  I guess we all get our turns.  But at least it's better to learn about it from TV than from a failure. Keep us posted, and let us know if we can help.
