Beware of a "spoof" e-mail that is mimicking itself to be PayPal.

It will tell you that your account has a problem and needs to be updated. It looks very genuine.

I went into my paypal account and found everything was ok. So out of curiousity I went back to the email and clicked on a couple things and the website was linked to someplace in Kiev. UA. Not Good! Glad I didn't log into that one. Paypal is investigating this scam.

Just heard about this one from another source. Another reason to NOT use online features that need a credit card number!

I got one a while ago that my wife responded to supposedly from Ebay, asking to verify password. I got right on and changed my info. They do say to occasionally change your password. Haven't changed for a while, probably should think about doing it. Gets hard to keep track of all these different passwords, tho.   Mike

I don't know why any site would need me to 'verify' my pword Even when ebay went down a month or so ago, they didn't need me to re-enter any of my info. It's kinda like the phone co. callin to see if I'm satisfied with my phone. I always ax them, "Am I talking to you on my phone?" 'Well, yes, sir' "Then my phone must be working OK, HUH!?", and then I hang up.
Ther's always somebody tryin to scam us out of our hard earned $$$.....Lazy bastiges.........GET A JOB!

Almost every day we get an "official" looking e-mail from some bank or PayPal or other company asking us to go to a link. NEVER do it!!! It will only get you trouble.
If they want info from you, they will mail you a letter.

Its called "phishing" and is a big problem right now. It is not just eBay / Payal, but every bank on the planet. You'll get an email that says you need to verify all your information or your account will be closed. They'll use the graphics off the real site to make it look really real, but will redirect you to their site.

Beware!

I get one or two of those a week lately. It just seems to be gathering speed. These emails look alot like the real things. If I get an email from a bank or ebay or paypal, anything to do with my money, I delete it first thing. There is no way my bank knows my email address. If they need me, they have my address and my phone number. Never open any of these emails.

I get a ton of those things.  I delete them all, with the exception of sometimes forwarding them to the actual company.  Then they might be able to act on them.  I have only done this a few times.  I onced asked the local Police Dept if they were interested in having them forwarded to them.  I was told they get a LOT of these forwarded, but get a large number of them directly into the department.  Now that's gutsy.  They are almost impossible to track down.  But the FBI helps, and they do get a few of the sources one in a while.  A drop in a ocean, but it's something.  At least they keep working on it.
