So, I booked a room at the "Harrisburg-Hershey" Baymont hotel back in May for this weekend (August 21, 03).
So I went there tonight, and the idiots did not have a room for me!!!
After spending 1/2 hour on the phone with Baymont customer service, the hotel lost my resevervation. Apparently, that location recently became a Quality Inn and my reservation didn't make the switch over. Well, GREAT! It's is only the night of one of the biggest events the area has, Corvette @ Carlisle. So now the Baymont people tried to find me any hotel room in the area, which of course took forever... and they only found a room for tonight at a Red Roof Inn. So I went to the Red Roof Inn, the room is crap! So I immediately got out the phone book and started looking for a hotel with any rooms available Friday and/or Saturday night. Well, another 1/2 hour on the phone turned up no hotels with both nights available, but I found two separate hotels, one for Friday, one for Saturday. Of course, both are WAY more than my original cost per night at the stupid Baymont.
Now I have to wait to talk to the Baymont Corporate office, to get them to pay for at least the difference in cost, if not the whole weekend, which is my preference.
At least I don't have to sleep in my car!

Adam,
When I make a reservation that far in advance, I usually call about a month before to confirm the reservation. There have been ocaisions where the hotel lost the reservation but was able to re-book it then. Sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope you have a great time at Carlisle.

I had a similar experience for the 50th Caravan/Celebration. Booked all my rooms back in January and was notified in May by the MN Caravan captain to reconfirm reservations because someone had reported that when they went to confirm their reservations they were gone. Sure enough, a couple of mine had disappeared 'for some unknown reason'. Fortunately I had the original confirmation numbers so that helped get them restored.
And I agree, they should at least make up the difference in the room rates to you because it was their screwup. Getting it all covered might be a stretch, but definitely a bonus if they do.

Well, I finally got a hold of their corporate person... they are going to pay me the difference in rates between their's and what I had to pay.
They are also going to give me a couple of certificates , each good for a free night's stay.
I guess I'm satisfied. I'm certainly glad I didn't have to sleep in my truck!
