This is the story of young PFC Phelps and his journey home from Iraq. For those of you that don't know, the remains of all servicemembers are never alone until they are buried. All servicemembers are escorted home to make sure that the remains receive the proper care and respect due to someone that gives their life in defense of their nation.

Of course...supoort the troops in any way possible.

If you don't have personal contact with someone serving then you don't know the sacrifice, courage, and duty of our troops. Each one is special and unique, but they are part of a team. Each one committed to each other for the common cause of protecting our freedom (something that is too often taken for granted). Every day in peacetime or during war they give their lives for us. I can think of few other higher callings in life and I have the deapest respect for everyone who serves with honor.

Matt, thank you for the opportunity to experience what goes into bringing one of our heroes home. Ironically, our town just lost one of our sons. SGT. Sherwood Baker(1973-2004) Was stationed in Bagdhad with his Army unit, and was one of the two soldiers killed in the recent warehouse bombing in Bagdhad. He left behind a Wife, and a 9-year old son.
His funeral was nothing short of incredible. The location was a college gymnasium, and it was elbow to elbow. Governor Rendell paid his respects, as did several useless Congressmen. Their words were empty to me. It was the words of his friends, and family that gave him the honor and respect he deserves.
He will always be a hero in these parts, just like every fallen soldier will be in theirs. Thanks again, Matt, I really appreciate reading about how everyone that comes in contact with the fallen has the same respect that our brothers and sisters deserve.
