Well.....After finishing the rear suspension (2 new trailing arms, E-brakes, spindles, bearings, rotors, shocks, shock mounts, 9-Leaf spring, strut rods, bushings, bolts, & diff braket bushings....Whew!) It's back to the tank sticker
Since the car is at my brother-in-law's garage. I told him to use a mirror to check for the tank sticker. He called me back to say that he could not see the sticker, but he did find a leak in the tank (fri##in lovely ).
You guys were right, the tank only took about 30 minutes to remove (x-member bolts were a pain to reach). Then when it was down, & I got done rubbing 36 years of crud out of my eyes...........I FOUND IT!!!
The paper was 90% there and it is EXTREMELY fragile. It is legibile, but it is stuck to the tank pretty well. After some gentle brushing (I felt like an archeologist) I was able to read the car's options and the rear end ratio. Digital pictures will be taken on Monday.
However, the top left piece of the paper is missing - about a third of the way across and a half inch wide. The wording starts at the order date (1-68) and expected build date (2-68).
Now I still have a couple of questions:
1- Anyone know what would have been printed in the missing section?
2- It reads dealer code "022" Anyone know how I can find out who the dealer was?
Sorry for the long post,,,,,,,I.m a little excited..........Except now I gotta order a new gas tank & accessories.

Congrats on the find. My car had the tank replaced before I got it so no tank sticker for me. Looking forward to seeing the pics.
Yippee!
I was able to sucessfully remove the sticker from the tank using a sheet of sticky laminate paper and then I laminated the back side.
I can't remember who suggested it, but I do will put a laminated copy on top of the new tank.
I took some photos & scanned it. I will post it when I get back to work & get my newly made CD-R out of the computer that I left it in.

Anthony,
Great to hear you found the build sheet. That's one item I failed to look for while doing my repairs. I guess I was in to much shock (cost of parts/repairs) to bother, I was afraid to find some other costly problem. I e-mailed you the info on the laminated sheet.

When you want to set an address as a link, select the URL button at the top on the line labeled HTML Tags.
Type or paste in the address between the two URL tags.
That's all there is to it.
