After having dug to a depth of 1000 meters last year, Scottish scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 1000 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 1000 years ago.
Not to be outdone by the Scots, in the weeks that followed, English scientist dug to a depth of 2000 meters and shortly after headlines in the UK newspapers read:
"English archaeologists have found traces of 2000 year copper wire and have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network a thousand years earlier than the Scots."
One week later, Texas newspapers reported the following:
"After digging as deep as 5000 meters in West Texas, scientists have found absolutely nothing. They have therefore concluded that 5000 years ago Texas inhabitants were already using wireless technology."

****************BREAKING NEWS*************************
ASSOCIATED PRESS--Duncanville, TX--December 14, 2006:
In an announcement that has stunned both the automotive and academic worlds, Professor J. Adams of Duncanville, Texas proclaimed today that he has unearthed absolute proof that his ancestors, ancient Texans, were the first to invent the wheel.
In a 2,164-page report titled, "Tales of Tumbleweed", Professor Adams claims that the rolling motion of tumbleweed on the flat Texas plains inspired his caveman predecessors to design the first mode of modern transportation.
"It's no coincidence that my 1974 Corvette just happens to have four tires, and drives like a dream on the roads here. There can be no other explanation for this except that the very first Adams family members foresaw the development of America's true sports car, and in fact made that development possible in the first place by creating the wheel."
Professor Adams went on to say that he intends to publish the report, just as soon as he completes his long-awaited research paper on "How To Rebuild Your GM TH350 Transmission", a work which has been eagerly anticipated within the Corvette community, but has been plagued by repeated postponements and unexplained delays. Professor Adams refused to pinpoint exactly when that paper will be published, only commenting that "my vital work on the C3VR Forum has always and will continue to come first."SFVette 2006-12-14 09:48:45
