Topic: Telemarketers calling Cell Phones
in Forum: Humor
JUST A REMINDER... 31 days from today, cell phone numbers are being
released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive
sale calls. YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS... To prevent this,
call the following number from your cell phone: 888/382-1222. It is
the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your
time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. PASS THIS ON TO ALL
YOUR FRIENDS

I got a telemarketer call on my cell the other day, a recording, and it was a language I don't speak!

Mike, where did you get that phone number to call? Personally I'd be very leary about it unless it came from a SUPER reliable source. The "scammers" are VERY, VERY creative folks.
If you'd prefer to not call that number go to the National Do-Not-Call Registry web-site to register your phone numbers, cell and land lines. Lots more info here on the FCC Consumer & Governmental Affairs Bureau web-site.
You can also go to the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) web-site to register your phone numbers, mailing address(es), and e-mail address(es) to reduce the amount of telemarketing and junk-mail that comes at you.
In fact, here's a link to info directly on the DMA's web-site regarding the cell phone issue.
I work in the customer privacy area of a major financial institution and know that the above web-sites work when properly used by the marketing areas of companies.
