This is awesome, I want this guy to run for office (Whitehouse). It may take awhile but it's worth it.
A Different Kind of Police Chief
Background:
San Francisco Police Officer Nick Birco was killed July 26, 2006,
when his police car was struck by a stolen van occupied by suspects
who had just committed an armed robbery and were being pursued by SFPD units.
This video was of a press conference given by a member of the SFPD brass.
This demonstrates how administrators can choose to act, if they want to.

Hmmmm...write traffic tickets: fairly safe for cops, but doesn't give much protection from gettin your house burglerized.
chase bad guys...could get killed...could keep the bad guys from killin YOU...

Well said chief. Run for office, please. How does this guy survive in San Fran., home of the infamous 9th(?) circuit (circus) court?

I wish this man were my Chief.
The media will either rip him to shreds in their stories,
or, totally leave him alone because somebody actually has the stones to tell the truth. And people are listening to this.
I'm saddened about the Police Officer's death, but I'm incredibally impressed at how the Chief handeled it.
This country needs more people like him.
