That sucks, what's worse is they probably live around you and more n likely they will try to hit you again! I got a paranoid schizophrenic doberman and he does a pretty good job at keeping an eye on the place, my wife complained when I brought him home but at the time but I was still doing multiple deployments overseas and traveling quite a bit. It took awhile but I took the heat until she finally warmed up to him.

This side of my garage faces the house. It has 10 landscape lights which are lit throughout the night. There is a light post within 10' of this door and the dog kennel is within the same proximity. So I am thinking this person is pretty ballsy and quite.
I like the red light or camera directed towards the door idea. I have an older video camera that we no longer use that I could install.
Up until the last time I was ripped off I really wanted to catch them in the act. But then I learned they stole a Glock 9MM handgun from my neighbors and I decided I would hate to die being caught in the wrong place at the wrong time by some scared crapless little snottnosed low life scumbag theif.
That thought made me just appreciate the only stole stuff and did nothing malicious or harmfull to belongings or persons.
Who knows myabe I'll get lucky and get the stuff back.... I was up til about 2 this morning listening for a chainsaw running!

Consider the guy that rigged the shotgun with a string to his garage/storage shed...guy breaks in, and gets a face-full of 00buck. Guess who went to jail?

Had the owner been behind the door, and was in fear for life and property, it would have been totally legal. Go figure....
There is a person here locally(name with-held

(and yes, there is a "Notice: Electric Fence")

Personally I don't want to find out. I do believe that I have a resposiblity to protect what I value. With that in mind I will be adding a few legal security features to both the garage and home.
Wouldn't you know out of all of this I end up spending more to protect what I already have. Something about that just seems downright unfair.
